Overview

Lundbreck Falls PRA offers a quintessential Alberta experience, centered around the stunning twin waterfalls of the Crowsnest River. This provincial park provides a serene environment where the sound of rushing water serves as a constant backdrop for campers. Unlike large, commercial resorts, this area emphasizes a connection with nature through its preserved landscapes and rugged charm. It is a popular year-round destination for both quick roadside stops and overnight stays under the vast, starry prairie sky. Visitors often find themselves mesmerized by the sheer power of the water as it drops twelve meters into the canyon below.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just off the Crowsnest Highway (Highway 3) in southwestern Alberta, the park is incredibly accessible for travelers moving between British Columbia and the Alberta prairies. The surrounding landscape features a dramatic transition from rolling foothills to the jagged peaks of the Rocky Mountains. The park sits adjacent to the small village of Lundbreck, providing a peaceful rural setting that feels remote yet remains conveniently located near a major travel corridor. The area is characterized by native grasses, limestone outcrops, and the winding path of the river.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is designed to accommodate various camping styles, offering a selection of powered RV sites in the north loop and unserviced sites in the south loop. While it maintains a rustic feel, the park provides essential facilities including pit toilets, fire rings, and sturdy picnic tables. A water pump is available on-site, though campers should verify its current status before arrival. The most notable feature is the network of viewing platforms and stairs that lead visitors down to the base of the falls, offering excellent vantage points for nature photography.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Anglers flock to this section of the Crowsnest River, which is world-renowned for its exceptional rainbow trout fishing and fly-fishing opportunities. Beyond the water, the historic Crowsnest Pass area is a short drive away, offering deep dives into coal mining history and mountain hiking trails. Visitors can also take a scenic day trip to the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre or explore the wild, untouched landscapes of nearby Castle Provincial Park. The region is rich with wildlife, making birdwatching and nature walks popular activities for guests staying at the falls.

Such a beautiful spot with easy access to the waterway. Nicely set up viewing platforms. We were there as the trees were turning colour that provided a beautiful backdrop. I would recommend earlier in the day to visit so that the falls are not backlit for better viewing and photos.

Gorgeous spot to visit. And it's FREE...what's free anymore? I loved how there are steps down one side so you can get right to the water and take pics. My dog loved it. Would definitely recommend!

The drive was nice from Calgary. Absolutely loved the time spent at Lundbreck Falls, it is absolutely beautiful. The falls are right there as you drive up, no hike to have to see them. There are stairs you can take to go the bottom of the falls, for more beautiful views. You can feel the mist of the falls. Some ppl were swimming and some fishing. There are bathrooms and inwas surprised by how clean they were. I will definitely be going back !

Just 25-30 minutes from Pincher Creek, you’ll find Lundbreck Falls—a small but beautiful spot perfect for a quick stop and some photos. I visited on a Tuesday evening and it was very quiet, which made the experience even better. Spent about 15–20 minutes near the falls and really enjoyed the peaceful breeze from the water. Conveniently located right off the highway, it’s definitely worth a visit at least once if you’re in or around Pincher Creek or Blairmore.

Beautiful waterfalls just 20 minutes from Pincher Creek!! There are well constructed podiums where you get exotic view of these falls. We took the steps going down into the river stream and took a nice dip. We got there around 3pm on a nice sunny day and had a wonderful time bathing. If you’re around Pincher Creek, Lundbreck falls are definitely worth checking out. Free parking & admission.
