Mackinaw City / Mackinac Island KOA Journey

The Mackinaw City KOA is located with in the Mackinaw CIty limits just one mile south of city center and next to the North Western Bike Trail. We have quiet, spacious, wooded sites and a pool heated to 86 degrees.

Mackinac Island is the most spectacular destination in Michigan, and this KOA is a perfect location to stay. Free shuttles to island ferries are available. KOA's nature trail connects to a paved trail into Mackinaw City, where you can explore Colonial Michilimackinac and Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. Or continue on the North Western State Trail for miles of hiking/biking. Rent a bike from KOA or bring your own. Use this KOA as a base camp for an easy trip across the Mackinac Bridge to Tahquamenon Falls, Soo Locks and Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum on Lake Superior. Take a scenic drive through Tunnel of Trees. You're less than 2 miles from a Lake Michigan beach. After sightseeing, head back to KOA to enjoy the heated pool and a campfire. There are sites for everyone: pull thrus/full hookups, pop-ups, tents and Cabins. Cable TV/Wi-Fi available at sites. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 100 feet.

Car camp sites are small and not very private at all. Friendly staff and Bathrooms extremely clean with lots of mirror space. Showers were hot but the shower head was just a tube spraying water, those could definitely be updated. Lots of great destinations nearby. Delivery firewood, electric hookup and water spigot were very convenient

My first KOA in many years. Great crew running the place. Very clean. They have firewood delivered amongst other things to your campsite. Trash service on the morning. Also the local ferry service to the island will stop by on request, very convenient! Only issue was we were under the only oak tree in the entire complex in late September and the squirrels were chomping on the acorns and dropping them and the debris on the trailer roof, especially at night! Sounded like hail! So avoid Spot 49 during this time!

We came here for our first family trip and absolutely loved it! We will definitely be planning our trip here again for next summer. The campground is right next to Mackinaw City. The cabins are not too pricey either. We had the 4 person cabin with no bathrooms. The cabin was clean when we arrived and cozy for the stay. The bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily and kept up with well. We didn't use the pool but it looked very clean. They have a nice park with a cozy area to just hang out. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. 10/10 recommend.

We’re new to KOA campgrounds, but this location truly set the bar high. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and responsive—everything from check-in to moving sites was handled smoothly and professionally. We really appreciated the text updates about campground happenings, and the shuttle to the ferry was super convenient and hassle-free. The laundry facilities were clean and easy to use, and the pool was a hit with our kids—perfect for swimming and burning off energy. Highly recommend this KOA for anyone visiting the area. A great experience from start to finish!

Had a great experience here. We arrived after the office had closed, but spoke with Jasmine ahead of time who explained the process for finding our lot. She was super nice. Check in the next morning was easy. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Most lots are shady, though, there are a few at the end of the campground that are unshaded. Didn't use the pool, but seemed to be well-kept. A few yard games like corn hole are available as well. All of the other guests were polite and evenings were quiet. Free shuttle to the ferry us available, which makes it super convenient. About 2 miles from downtown Mackinaw City restaurants, gift stores, groceries, and hardware. Overall, great experience and we will definitely stay again if we are in the area!
