The landscape is defined by lush forests and the tranquil waters of Davis Lake, creating a scenic backdrop for a relaxing outdoor stay that focuses on nature and simplicity.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Schuyler Falls, NY, the park serves as a gateway to the northeastern region of the Adirondack Mountains. It is conveniently located just a short drive from the city of Plattsburgh and the expansive shores of Lake Champlain. The surrounding area is characterized by rolling hills and dense woodlands, offering a secluded feel while remaining accessible to local supply runs and regional travel routes through the Champlain Valley.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features over 100 campsites, with several loops specifically designed to accommodate RV travelers. Visitors can enjoy the following features:

  • Designated sites with electric hookups to power your rig.
  • A clean and accessible on-site dump station for RV maintenance.
  • Fresh water fill stations and bathhouses with hot showers.

For recreation, the park provides a swimming beach, a playground, and several playing fields. The non-motorized boating environment on Davis Lake ensures the water remains calm and quiet throughout the day.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do both inside and outside the park. Within the grounds, visitors can enjoy kayaking and paddleboarding or fishing for trout in the Salmon River. Just a short drive away, the famous Ausable Chasm offers breathtaking views and hiking trails through ancient sandstone. For those interested in local history or shopping, the nearby city of Plattsburgh offers museums and various dining options near the lakefront.

We stayed at site 121. The bathrooms were cleaned daily, and stocked. Free, hot showers but in the shower house closest to our site, there were three handicap showers with shower heads at half height and only two, gender separated, normal showers. So really only one shower. The men’s shower has a button and it turns off after three seconds. Yes… three seconds. The firewood was $5 a bundle, about 10 pieces and all of the wood we received was not only wet but smelled like manure. We were still able to have successful fires. Several water taps throughout the campground. The workers were great, all very nice. The campground is very well maintained. There are definitely some sites that are better than others, but isn’t that always the case. We would not choose 121 again. I think 119 is the site to choose if you want personal water access.

Many sites with no electricity or water on site. Maybe 10 sites with 30amp electric and no water. No sewer on site. There is a very nice, large playground near the electric sites with a large field to play in and horseshoe set ups. There is a nice dump station with potable water by the black water dump. Be careful. There are many potable water connections scattered around the park to fill your fresh water holding tank. I’d use one of these instead of the one by the dump. Several bathrooms. Two are newer and mostly clean. Not spotless. They have plenty of hot water for the showers. There are several miles of hiking trails. There is a nice large day use area with a beach. This is the second time I e been here and would stay again. We had an electric site. The site was dirt/sand and very clean. It was large.

Before I get any further, the red squirrels are a nightmare! We are always prepared for bears, but these squirrels are another story! They ate through a storage container in less than 6 hours and messed with everything inside. Anything that smells like food they are going to mess with! Now, for the rest of my review. We had site 114 and it was very big and on the water. Sites 113 and 115 are also decent size. All 3 of these have water access points. From 114 you can see the beach and a pretty view of the water and park area. The beach is pretty nice for a pond. The bathrooms are cleaned daily. Remember to bring cash if you have children because an ice cream truck comes through the camp ground. Overall, one of the best state campgrounds I have been to.

Great beginner campground. This campground had the best facilities by far compared to any other DEC campground. The bathrooms were very clean and modern. There were no bugs and the showers were separated in a different room from the toilets. I didn’t use them, but it appears there are several recreational activities to choose from. The staff were also kind and helpful. The only downside is that this campground does not offer much privacy as many of the other DEC campgrounds do. The majority of the sites are close in proximity to each other with little to no trees or bushes to separate them.
