We had a great stay. We stayed 4 nights/5 days. We never experienced the bad smells from the sewage treatment plant, but perhaps it is worse during certain times. We were there mostly to bike the Wheelway. The trail goes right through camp which was very convenient. We would come again.

We did a brief drive from Charlevoix to Magnus Park to look for Petoskey stones. It was late in the day so didn’t have much time to look. We did find a few Petoskey and Charlevoix stones. Always a fun little adventure. Would love to camp here some time!

We have mixed peelings about the park. It is right next to a water treatment facility! I don’t think I saw that in the original listing, but it was not really a problem just occasionally could smell the sewage. The view was incredibly beautiful of the sunset. Bathrooms and shower were very clean. Nothing to do with the ratings, but had a group of people behind us that was very inconsiderate. I don’t know why people think that they are entitled to the entire park just because they rent one lot lol. First thing in the morning, had to yell at some lady because she was letting her dog pee on our electrical hook up to the pedestal.🤔 some people I tell ya

I went just to rock hunt, so I can’t speak to the campground. The beach is beautiful, and it is the best beach I’ve ever been to for Petoskey rock hunting. I usually find at least a dozen Petoskey stones each time I visit, and I’ve also found Charlevoix stones, horn coral, fan coral, and much more.

On the positive side, the park is clean. Lake Michigan's shoreline runs the length of the park, 200 steps from our campsite. The beach is large and beautiful, great for watching the sunsets. There is a dog friendly portion of beach, as well. The restrooms and showers were very nice. The paved bike path to Charlevoix runs through the campground. There is an eroded portion that is rerouted. There are plenty of hiking paths. Petoskey and the marina are within walking distance. On the huge downside is the odiferous sewage treatment plant at the south end of the park. It has hot and humid, so the sickening smell was ever-presesnt. We were at the opposite end of the campground. We spent extra time away from the campground to avoid the smell. Despite the positives, I cannot imagine coming back because of the sewer smell. I think it's deceptive that the campground doesn't warn about this.

Decent shore side campsite, however! Unless you have an RV to stay in it smells like a waist dump! Gross, will advise a good phew not to come here.

We have been to this park for Petoskey stones and have found some each time! It is so beautiful to see! Next year we are definitely going to try to camp here! It's a smaller campground with not really big spots but right on the water makes up for that! Highly recommend checking out! Rates for camping are super affordable as well!

Has rocks and RV camping, although we did not have good luck finding Petoskey stones at this location (had much better luck 30 minutes away at Fisherman's Island State Park at the parking lot next to the sign before you officially enter the park).

Small campground but spacious lots. Very rocky beach. Clean restrooms. Picnic tables in every lot. Nice view of lake Michigan. Very quiet here.

The Park itself is nice, but the service is terrible. I lost my wallet at the park and someone was kind enough to turn it in for me every time I would call or leave a message no one would respond. When I was actually able to speak to someone to see if they could send it to me because I live for hours away, he said it was "out of his area of expertise." Ann that he would have to ask his manager, but then no one got back to me. So my boyfriend drove four hours to go get it and no one was there. He called multiple times and no one answered. He called the city and they sent over a retired ranger to help him get into the office to find out and it wasn't there. Th hey had to call two other gamers to figure out where it was. Turns out one of the tanners gave it to the police and didn't tell anyone. When he got to the police station, they had already sent it to me. Glad to know my wallet will be here soon, but I hate that they lack the communication skills to tell me that before sending my boyfriend on a wild goose chase and an 8 hour drive. 🙃

I recommend wearing either water shoes or some other type of foot covering at this beach as it is extremely rocky and not a sand beach. It is a very good spot for rock hunting and my family has had a lot of luck there. It's also usually less busy than the state park though it is a considerably smaller beach. Overall, I personally enjoy this beach a ton but it may not be what everyone is looking for in a beach.

Absolutely love the people and the view. 3 years running. We'll be back ❤️
