Malibu Beach RV Park

Overview

Malibu Beach RV Park offers a rare chance to stay overnight on the world-famous Malibu coastline. Perched on a hillside overlooking the Pacific, this park provides sweeping ocean views and immediate access to the salt air. It serves as a scenic base for travelers exploring Southern California’s coastal highway while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere that balances the energy of nearby Los Angeles with the serenity of the shoreline. It is one of the few places in the area where you can park a rig and witness a sunset over the water right from your front door.

Location & Surroundings

Located directly along the Pacific Coast Highway, the park’s terraced layout ensures that many sites have clear sightlines to the water. Just across the road lies Dan Blocker Beach, a popular spot for sunbathing, swimming, and watching local surfers. The surrounding landscape is defined by the rugged Santa Monica Mountains on one side and the vast ocean on the other. This unique position offers a dramatic contrast of environments, allowing guests to transition from mountain hiking to beach walking within minutes.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility provides essential comforts for a coastal stay, including full hookup sites that accommodate both small trailers and large motorhomes. Guests have access to the following features:

  • Heated restrooms and private showers
  • On-site laundry facilities for long-term travelers
  • Propane filling station and waste disposal
  • Basic Wi-Fi access and 24-hour security

A small on-site convenience store provides basic supplies and snacks, which is particularly helpful for those arriving after a long drive. The park focuses on maintaining a clean and secure environment for all visitors.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the proximity to Solstice Canyon, where hiking trails lead to waterfalls and historic ruins. A short drive away, the Malibu Pier offers iconic photo opportunities and coastal dining experiences. For those looking for more nature, Point Dume provides spectacular cliffside views and seasonal whale watching. The park is also an ideal jumping-off point for visits to Santa Monica or the Getty Villa, providing a blend of natural beauty and high-end cultural experiences just a short drive down the coast.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent choice for coastal road trippers who want to wake up to the sound of waves. It is ideal for travelers seeking a scenic getaway without sacrificing proximity to major city highlights in Los Angeles. Because of its unique hillside location and panoramic views, it appeals most to those who value a premium location and natural environment over resort-style luxuries like swimming pools or clubhouse activities. It is a fantastic destination for couples and solo explorers looking for a classic California experience.

I was very disappointed with my camping reservation and check-in experience resulting from misinformation provided by an employee. My original intent was to reserve a "Rooftop Tent Only" site for my car-attached hatchback tent setup, as it offers a similar footprint and function to a standard rooftop tent. When I called to confirm this arrangement, the employee I spoke with advised that only traditional rooftop tents were permitted. They recommended, instead, that I book a standard "Tent Ocean View" site, which I did based on their advice. Upon arrival for check-in I was informed by the counter employee that the "Tent Ocean View" sites require campers to park in a remote lot and transport gear using provided barrels. This arrangement is completely incompatible with my car-attached tent setup, a fact I had explained during my initial phone call. The check-in employee brought the manager over, who eventually located an open "Rooftop Tent Only" site for me. While I appreciate that the situation was eventually resolved and a suitable site was provided, the exchange was handled poorly. The manager’s initial reaction included questioning whether I was sure I had called the correct facility and who I had spoken with, which felt dismissive and placed the responsibility for the error on me. Furthermore, as I was leaving, the manager suggested I purchase a traditional rooftop tent, RV, or van for future trips, a comment I found highly inappropriate given that the entire issue stemmed from a staff error. I understand mistakes happen, but the incident highlights a significant lapse in communication and customer service: 1. I was intentionally steered away from the site type I needed by an employee who recommended an incompatible alternative. 2. The resulting inconvenience at check-in was met with a lack of accountability and condescending remarks. Finally, regarding the premises, the sites, including the one I was eventually placed in, were extremely close together. The dense, "packed-in" nature of both the RV and camping spots detracted significantly from the peaceful experience I was seeking as a solo camper. I do not plan to camp here again based on this interaction and the quality of the sites.

We just love it here! And, after this visit, we decided we will always stay here with you when we come down from Chico to see our kids! We LOVED our site and will be booking this from now on! I had no problem getting in and loved our neighbors. Everyone here was so nice!

We were tent camping up on the cliff overlooking the ocean. Loved the view, loved hearing the waves crashing at night, very clean campsite and restrooms. There's a little bit of a walk from the vehicle to the campsite, but they have nice carts to transport your supplies. Group tent campers are in a separate area, so it's quiet for the single families/couples. A little higher priced than I'm used to paying for tent camping, but worth it!

I love these people. They were kind, accomodating, gracious. The campground was full. Our timing was off and we arrived much too early. And the campground was full. Instead of being hard-core with their strict rules, they told me not to worry and let's see what they could work out. And they did. The sites are horrifically expensive but we knew that when we decided on a whim to come. But the view is breathtaking. Take the dogs walk hike (recommend hiking boots or treaded tennis shoes) for a short walk to Malibu Seafood and the beach (requires crossing a busy highway but avoids crazy expensive parking fees or fighting for free highway spots). We decided sometimes the memories are more important than the money. We will probably never be back because of the distance but I would never have missed this chance. If I can encourage you to visit Malibu RV Park, consider this thumbs up!
