Manatee Hammock Park

Overview

Manatee Hammock Park offers a serene escape nestled within a lush hammock of palms and pines along the banks of the Indian River Lagoon. This Brevard County park provides a quiet, natural setting that contrasts with the bustling tourist hubs found further south. Travelers often find themselves under a canopy of old-growth trees, providing much-needed shade from the Florida sun. It is a well-established destination where the pace of life slows down to match the gentle movement of the river, offering a peaceful retreat for those exploring the Space Coast.

Location & Surroundings

Situated on the shores of the Indian River in Titusville, the park boasts an unobstructed view of the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Its location on US Highway 1 makes it easily accessible for big rigs while maintaining a secluded feel away from heavy traffic. The surrounding area is defined by its coastal ecosystems and its front-row seat to the Kennedy Space Center across the water. This unique positioning makes it one of the few places where you can witness the future of space exploration from the comfort of a quiet riverbank.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features 166 RV sites equipped with full hookups including water, electric, and sewer services. Guests have access to a variety of recreation options, including a sparkling swimming pool and a dedicated fishing pier that extends into the lagoon. Other practical amenities include a clean laundry facility, hot showers, and a recreation center for community gatherings. For those who enjoy active leisure, there are shuffleboard courts and horseshoe pits located within the well-maintained grounds, ensuring plenty of entertainment within the park itself.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for many visitors is the proximity to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, located just a short drive away. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Canaveral National Seashore or spend a day birdwatching at the nearby wildlife refuge. Titusville itself offers charming local eateries and historical sites for afternoon excursions. Of course, the most popular activity is simply gathering at the shoreline to watch rocket launches, which provide an unforgettable spectacle that lights up the sky right from the park's edge.

Who This Park Is Best For

Manatee Hammock Park is ideal for space enthusiasts who want a comfortable base camp for viewing rocket launches without the typical crowds. It also appeals strongly to nature lovers and birdwatchers who appreciate the biodiversity of the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem. Because of its quiet atmosphere and shaded sites, it is a favorite for long-term winter residents seeking a more rustic, community-oriented vibe rather than a high-traffic resort. It is a perfect fit for travelers who value natural beauty and historical significance over commercial glitz.

We stayed here for the first time for just a few nights. The campground has a great view for launches and to see the vehicle assembly building. It was kept up pretty well and did have full hookups which is very nice, but it had a few issues I did not like. They had no fire pits or grills and if you wanted to have a fire, it had to be 6" above the round in someone like a Solo. The site I picked they deemed it was too big for me and moved me to another site which put me on top of another camper. Since we were gone most of the time, it really did not effect us much, but if had been staying longer, it might have. From what I understand, they move reservations a lot. Other than that it was a nice campground and will most likely go back since it is centrally located around so many things.

For as many as 4 years that i have been coming to Manatee Hammock. This year as of October 18th 2025 . I was informed for some reason. Iwas told i cant go out and fish at night from the dock. I stayed this year earlier in March and had no problem at all fishing at night. So unhappy camper here. What or why i wonder that it cant be done. As of now ?

Drove here to experience a SpaceX launch just across the wide river (lagoon) to be able to "feel" the launch when the sound rumbles across the water. Walked around after getting settled. People camping and staff are friendly. Even helped me back in the rig. Dog park is big and fenced. The pier is brand new. The bathroom is clean but could be better. The view of the launch should be INCREDIBLE!!!!

Beautiful campground with lush landscapes and shady sites. Lots of butterflies. Beautiful view of the water with a fishing dock. There's also a small store offering rv essentials, cold drinks, firewood and ice cream. A large vending machine outside the store offers ice and filtered water. I'm giving them 3 stars because the bathrooms (men and women) were disgusting. Showers were spacious and had a bench and hooks, but the haven't been cleaned in a while and had mildew. Also, the bathrooms had no ventilation; which made you feel muggy and sweaty even before you started drying. Next time, I would leave the door ajar for ventilation. Shower water pressure was good and temperature was really hot. No cold water in the shower, in case you want to cool off. Our site had water, electricity and sewer, but no fire ring. We went in late July and the mosquitoes were brutal. Check-in is at 2 pm and check-out is 11 am. Late check-in is allowed. There's a pavilion available with a few picnic tables.

Beautiful spot. Our reserved campsite was changed when we arrived. Just made me laugh because multiple reviews said it would happen. Our original reserved spot stayed empty so not sure of the reasoning. There are local cats there. Dog park is large and right on the coast. Very pretty. Picked up some leftover dog waste in addition to our own pup's. Some people......eye roll. Bathrooms were pretty warm and sticky, but we did go in June. Laundry machines worked well. $2.50 in quarters to wash and $2.50 to dry.
