Overview
Hampton Campground offers a quintessential provincial park experience nestled within the heart of E.C. Manning Provincial Park. It serves as a peaceful retreat for travelers seeking a deep connection with the British Columbia wilderness. Unlike modern paved resorts, this park emphasizes a rustic camping atmosphere where the sound of the wind through the trees replaces the hum of the city. It is an ideal spot for those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in the rugged natural beauty of the Cascade Mountains.
Location & Surroundings
Situated along the scenic Highway 3 corridor, the park provides easy access while remaining tucked away in a lush forested valley. The campground sits near the banks of the Similkameen River, offering a serene backdrop for morning walks and afternoon relaxation. The surrounding landscape is defined by towering mountain peaks and vibrant sub-alpine meadows that change dramatically with the seasons. It is perfectly positioned for those traveling between the Lower Mainland and the interior Okanagan Valley.
Amenities & Park Features
As a dry camping location, the park provides essential facilities designed for self-contained RVs. You will find spacious and private sites equipped with heavy-duty fire rings and sturdy picnic tables. While there are no individual electricity or water hookups, the park maintains clean pit toilets and hand-pumped water stations. For travelers needing extra comfort, guests can often access the showers and heated pool at the nearby Manning Park Resort for a small daily fee, blending rugged living with modern convenience.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities just minutes from their campsite. The park is famous for its extensive hiking trail network, ranging from easy lakeside loops at Lightning Lake to challenging alpine treks like the Heather Trail. During the summer, visitors enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and fishing in crystal-clear waters. Late spring and early summer bring a stunning display of wildflowers in the meadows, while wildlife viewing remains a year-round draw for photographers and nature lovers.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is best suited for adventurous RVers who prefer a quiet, natural setting over a high-density commercial resort. It is a fantastic choice for families wanting to introduce their children to the great outdoors and hikers looking for a convenient mountain basecamp. If your travel style involves off-grid living and stargazing, Hampton Campground provides the perfect environment to relax away from the distractions of digital life and enjoy the simplicity of the woods.

Great campsite. Nice playground and bike area for kids. Sinks for dishes, showers, flush toilets. Only downside is that the highway traffic can be loud at night. We were in the sites closest to the highway. Maybe they're quieter further up from the road. Overall very nice camping experience. Wish it was longer. An no mosquitos when we were there!

I've always had a great experience camping here. Bathrooms and showers are some of the cleanest I've seen for a campground, with kitchen sinks located behind the main building to do dishes. There are also sinks and flush toilets located in a couple spots around the loops. There's a big kids' playground and a bike track and walking trails located in the campground, which is a nice addition. The campsite is located next to the highway, so there is road noise, but I only noticed it a couple times during the day.

It was my first time camping on this campground and We stayed at #48. Great campsite with flush toilets and hot showers . The facilities were well maintained by the Staffs . The Staffs were frequently checking the camp area and very friendly. My family really like the place and we looking forward to camp again Thank you

Diamond in the rough! Beautiful campsite. I just one beef, Park Operators could clean sites between campers, lots of cigarette butt's in our site:( But back to the greatness...... DRINKING WATER! It is great. I come from a city you can't drink the water. This was a real treat to drink from the tap! The campsites are smaller, so if you have a large rig it could be difficult....mind you people did it....wow! The sites have minimal to NO shade. The sites are very private from the sides. Yes there is road noise, but it's tolerable, and if you have low music on in the background it helps. Most campers like to use the top sites, so bottom sites usually available, we liked them better nicer views while sitting there having a coffee or a beer. There are also first come first serve sites. Beautiful bathroom facilties with free showers and plugs. There is a dishwashing station with two flush toilets. There are pit toilets throughout the site. There is an old abandoned campsite at the end of the park, its a beautiful walk, creepy too, there are two pit toilets with TP! The campsite is full of chipmunks, squirrels🐿, mice, and marmmets. Birds galore🐦. At night the stars are spectacular, and the Bats are amazing, shine your flashlight into the sky you can see them catching bugs. For children, there is a bicycle hill park, and a playground near the showers. This campground was fabulous, we stayed for a week. There is no reception in the campground. You can get cell service at the Visitors Centre, or the Resort, and the Canco Gas station. It's a short drive to Lightening Lake. We ended up taking home a family of mice 🐭, be sure not to leave your storage compartments open...ugh. I highly recommended this campground!

Beautiful campground. Spacious and clean. Ground was easy to set up camp. Each site also has a picnic table. Rangers were constantly doing their rounds with firewood. Bonus - has flushable toilets and warm showers!
