Looking for a camping experience where nature is your neighbor and Wi-Fi is about as common as a unicorn? Then Red Bluff Campground in the Mark Twain National Forest might be your jam! Here we go!! The Good: Huzzah Creek: The star of the show! Dip your toes, catch some rays, or swim. Just be mindful, it can go from two feet to seven feet in a flash. It's like a watery magic trick! Secluded Sites (mostly): Many sites offer a good sense of privacy, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of… well, wherever you're escaping from. Scenic Views: Towering red bluffs provide a stunning backdrop, making your campfire selfies extra picturesque. Friendly Host: If you're lucky, you'll meet the diligent host, "Buddy," who's known to slip around like a shadow in the night and sell cheaper firewood than the locals. The... "Interesting": Quiet Hours: “Who needs em!” JK…maybe!! Welllll… Sometimes quiet hours are more of a suggestion on the weekends, so be prepared for some enthusiastic campers enjoying themselves. Rocky Tendencies: Due to past flood adventures (or misadventures?), some loops are mostly rocky, making tent camping more of a challenge. If you’re not up for it. Raccoons: Let's just say they are not shy. Be prepared for midnight snack raids and the general theft of anything deemed interesting. Seriously they will STEAL your stuff. No Cell Service: Consider this a digital detox, whether you like it or not. Red Bluff Campground is a place where you can enjoy the beauty of nature, embrace (sometimes forcefully) the lack of modern amenities, and maybe even get a workout chasing off hungry raccoons. It's a true escape from the ordinary. Just please remember you will be involved, as the victim, in a well established, Raccoon led theft ring.

Recently camped here in the Pines Overlook loop and the sites had plenty of shade for tent camping, no electric but that's ok with me. Very very beautiful view, and was sparsely populated even on a Saturday night. I think most people were at the Creek loop which I did not even know existed until I got turned around when leaving. Very much appreciated the solitude, and the hosts did come by once or twice daily to make sure things were well. I did not have any issues or even notice any mosquitoes, nor ticks, no fleas or chiggers or anything unpleasant bug-related. The lack of a 5th star is because of the cleanliness of the shower house/ bathrooms (not necessarily the vault toilets because you can only do so much and they were cleaner than most). The showers really need a good cleaning, so glad I didn't have to go in them barefoot. The flushing bathrooms were a bit cleaner, but still need a good cleaning of the toilets and sinks, flush buttons and door handles. Felt quite safe and will definitely be back

Best place for camping! Beautiful campsites. Some spaced out for a little bit of privacy and some gathered together if you prefer a busier space. Yard hydrants to wash off at, no showers available. A handful of electric sites. Most campsites are super close to the water and have a beautiful view. Huzzah creek this far down is mostly shallow (knee deep) with one or two deeper spots to swim at. Definitely reserve a space before you go if you go on the weekends.

Long family history/tradition at this beautiful spot. The swimming area is clean and gorgeous...and rarely over populated. Recently I've been heading down to swim since my pool is closed and it has been amazing seeing and talking with other families that have also been coming here for decades. Several generations. This is a gorgeous and peaceful place. Just an hour and forty minutes from St. Louis. Worth the drive even for a brief day trip, and nice to camp at too.

We reserved our site through recreation.gov but upon arrival we did not see any sign that we reserved our site. So, we made up our own sign and hung on campground number post. Tried to find campground host but could not find him/her. Very poor service. No trash collection, sites are not that great, vault toilet only. However there is a creek beside the campground where we took our shower. Sign at campground almost not present, lots of bugs, no lights. Definitely not coming back to this campground, if we do we will not reserve our site in advance.
