Maurice's Campground
Overview
Maurice's Campground has been a staple of Wellfleet, Massachusetts, for over seventy years. This family-operated destination offers a nostalgic, wooded environment that captures the essence of classic Cape Cod. Nestled among towering pine trees, it provides a peaceful retreat from the busier tourist hubs while maintaining a quiet, laid-back atmosphere that appeals to long-time visitors and newcomers alike. Whether you are traveling in a motorhome or a towable, the park provides a sense of community and history that is hard to find in larger commercial establishments.
Location & Surroundings
Situated on the picturesque Outer Cape, the park is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cape Cod National Seashore. The location is defined by its proximity to pristine Atlantic beaches and fresh-water kettle ponds. One of the standout features is direct access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a paved path perfect for cycling and walking that stretches across several towns. The landscape is characterized by its sandy soil and indigenous flora, providing a true coastal wilderness feel that stays cool under the canopy of pines even during the summer months.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground provides a range of sites, including those with water and electricity to accommodate various RV sizes. While it maintains a rustic charm, essential comforts are readily available, such as:
- Clean restrooms and hot showers
- A well-stocked camp store offering groceries, ice, and firewood
- Honey wagon service for convenient septic maintenance
- Picnic tables and fire rings at individual sites
The on-site store often serves as a central hub where guests can pick up morning essentials or get advice on local fishing spots. These features ensure that guests can enjoy the outdoors without sacrificing basic conveniences.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities nearby. The famous Marconi Beach is just a short trip away, offering stunning views of high sand dunes and crashing waves. Visitors can also catch a movie at the iconic Wellfleet Drive-In Theater or browse local art galleries in the charming village center. For those who enjoy fresh seafood, the area is renowned for its world-famous Wellfleet oysters and local lobster shacks that line the nearby harbor, providing a true taste of New England.

I suffered a medical emergency camping here and was rushed out by ambulance. The owners yelled and screamed at my guests asking if this was necessary. When I returned to get my vehicle the following morning, (I still had the site rented) the woman followed me to the site being extremely disrespectful. Yes, an ambulance was necessary. I suffer from SEVERE gastrointestinal disorders. Safe to say, I will never return.

I have been tent camping at Maurice's each summer for years now. The rustic setting and location is excellent ... located directly adjacent to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, only a few short miles to the National Seashore beaches, great restaurants, and the town centers of Eastham and Wellfleet. The campground maintains very clean rest rooms and hot showers. The management has always been very friendly and accommodating.

A huge shout-out to John and a campground resident who helped us with an RV issue (self-inflicted) without being asked and they couldn't have been more helpful. We could not have got back on the road without them and if I say there was a Bobcat involved, that probably says everything you need to know!!

Maurice's Campground is a local treasure in Wellfleet MA. Nestled among the tall pines, it's a wonderful place to relax but near to all the beaches, restaurants and entertainment locations. The managers have worked hard to update amenities and added a play area for kids and adults. Come to relax in nature and enjoy the camping experience!

This was my first time visiting the Cape. I've been to Nantucket and The Vineyard but the Cape is a beauty of it's own. The campground was wonderful. Very quiet for so early in the season. The gentleman Jim at the office was very kind and helpful. He made me a hot cup of coffee and helped answer any questions I had. Along with mostly Campers and some RV's the campground offers the most adorable and quaint cabins. They are quite small. I've never seen anything like them and so very cute. The area is directly in front of the Bike Path which travels into town where there is a selection of stores, shops, restaurants and more. There are nice hot showers and bathrooms in the campground, a playground, a community fire pit and grill, horse shoes, basketball hoops, and during the summer months there's a large store. Directly across the busy highway off the main road, there is a movie theater that is also a drive-in. There are so many beaches and plenty of spots to fish. There are local fishing charters as well as opportunities to see seals and sharks (from a distance of course.) The area is very close to many towns with so much to do and only 25 minutes to Provincetown. Highly recommend checking them out. Vacation is even more relaxing when spent in nature. I look forward to spending more time in the area this year. Wishing you the best time and many memories 💕
