Meadow Lake/Flotten Lake North

Overview

Flotten Lake North is a serene destination located within the expansive boundaries of Meadow Lake Provincial Park. Known for its pristine, deep waters and surrounding boreal forest, this campground offers a more secluded alternative to the busier southern entries of the park. It serves as a gateway for travelers who want to experience the raw beauty of Northern Saskatchewan while having a stable base for their RV. The atmosphere here is quiet and focused on the natural environment, making it a premier choice for those looking to disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with the outdoors.

Location & Surroundings

Located north of Dorintosh, SK, Flotten Lake North is situated in a region characterized by dense evergreen forests and crystal-clear northern lakes. The park is part of a massive ecological system that transitions from parkland to true boreal wilderness. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by towering spruce and pine trees, with the lake itself offering sandy shorelines and deep blue water. The geographic isolation of this specific area ensures that noise pollution is non-existent, replaced instead by the sounds of loons and whispering pines.

Amenities & Park Features

The amenities at Flotten Lake North cater to the self-sufficient RVer who appreciates a rustic camping experience. The park provides well-maintained vehicle-accessible campsites that offer a sense of privacy. Essential features include a concrete boat launch and a dedicated fish cleaning station, reflecting the lake's status as a top-tier fishing destination. While the park maintains a natural feel, visitors have access to shared facilities such as pit toilets and non-potable water sources. The focus here is on providing a functional space that does not distract from the surrounding wilderness.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for Flotten Lake is undoubtedly the world-class fishing for Walleye and Northern Pike. Anglers often spend their entire stay on the water, exploring the depths of this large lake. Beyond the water, hikers can access portions of the Boreal Trail, a massive trail system that winds through the provincial park, offering glimpses of black bears, moose, and diverse bird species. Nearby, the southern portions of Meadow Lake Provincial Park offer more developed beaches and mini-golf for a change of pace, though most visitors prefer the quiet solitude of the north.

Who This Park Is Best For

Flotten Lake North is ideal for dedicated anglers and nature enthusiasts who prefer a quiet, no-frills environment over a busy resort setting. It is a fantastic choice for RVers who enjoy dry camping or are equipped for semi-off-grid living in a forest environment. Families who love back-to-basics wilderness exploration will find plenty of opportunities for discovery here. If your travel style involves a fishing boat, a pair of hiking boots, and a desire for peace and quiet, this northern gem is the perfect fit for your Saskatchewan itinerary.

I believe we were about 28 people for the weekend. Facilities were well maintained, the cabins were very nice, although my husband and I slept in our 5th wheel. Barbecues on the decks of the cabins were a nice touch.

Well this is the second time Flotten lake adventures has hosted the Biterite crew and there's is nothing negative to say. As soon as you walk in you can smell the freshness and how clean the place is. Very well maintained beautiful cabins!! Great service and great people and great prices! Highly recommend a visit here if you're thinking about renting a cabin in the Meadow lake provincial park.
