Meadow Lake/Flotten Lake South

Overview

Meadow Lake Provincial Park is one of Saskatchewan’s largest wilderness destinations, and the Flotten Lake South campground offers a serene escape into the heart of the boreal forest. Located north of Dorintosh, this park is celebrated for its pristine waters and lush, untouched surroundings. It provides a peaceful alternative to busier resort-style parks, focusing on the natural beauty of the northern wilderness while offering essential comforts for RV travelers looking to truly disconnect from the modern world.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the northern reach of the province, the park is surrounded by dense pine forests and a network of over twenty crystal-clear lakes. Flotten Lake itself is a major highlight of the region, known for its deep, cold waters and beautiful sandy shorelines. The area around Dorintosh provides a gateway to this rugged landscape, where the wind through the trees and the call of the loon define the tranquil atmosphere of the campground.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features a mix of electric hookup sites and non-electric options, comfortably accommodating various RV sizes. Guests have access to a modern service center equipped with hot showers and flush toilets, ensuring a level of comfort while staying in the woods. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the convenient boat launch, dedicated fish cleaning station, and well-maintained picnic areas. The park also provides sturdy fire pits at each site for traditional evening campfires under the vast, starry Saskatchewan sky.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Fishing is the primary draw here, with Flotten Lake being a premier spot for landing Walleye and Northern Pike. Beyond the water, visitors can explore portions of the Boreal Trail, a massive network offering over 100 kilometers of hiking paths through diverse northern ecosystems. Birdwatching and wildlife photography are popular activities, as the park is home to black bears, moose, and various migratory birds. The nearby village of Dorintosh offers essential supplies and fuel for those enjoying extended stays.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for avid anglers and nature lovers who prioritize scenery and solitude over flashy urban amenities. It is a fantastic choice for families seeking an authentic camping experience where kids can play on the beach or learn to fish in calm waters. If you are an RVer who enjoys rugged provincial parks and the peace of wide-open spaces, Flotten Lake South delivers a quintessential Canadian wilderness experience that is hard to replicate elsewhere.

I believe we were about 28 people for the weekend. Facilities were well maintained, the cabins were very nice, although my husband and I slept in our 5th wheel. Barbecues on the decks of the cabins were a nice touch.

Came here with a group of 15 others. Extremely happy with how the weekend turned out. Ownership is phenomenal, cabins are well kept, fully stocked and extremely comfortable. Thank you once again for the hospitality.

Well this is the second time Flotten lake adventures has hosted the Biterite crew and there's is nothing negative to say. As soon as you walk in you can smell the freshness and how clean the place is. Very well maintained beautiful cabins!! Great service and great people and great prices! Highly recommend a visit here if you're thinking about renting a cabin in the Meadow lake provincial park.
