Meadow Lake/Mistohay

Overview

Mistohay Campground offers a tranquil escape within the expansive boundaries of Meadow Lake Provincial Park. Located in the northwestern reach of Saskatchewan's Boreal forest, this destination is defined by its deep connection to the natural world. Unlike the busier hub areas of the park, Mistohay provides a secluded atmosphere where the sounds of the forest take center stage. It serves as a quiet gateway for travelers looking to disconnect and enjoy the rugged beauty of the Canadian wilderness from the comfort of their RV.

Location & Surroundings

Situated near the village of Goodsoil, SK, the park is surrounded by dense forests and sparkling freshwater lakes. Mistohay Lake itself is the centerpiece of the landscape, offering a serene backdrop for the campsites. The terrain is characterized by rolling hills, tall spruce trees, and an abundance of local wildlife. The scenic drive into the park prepares visitors for a remote experience, making it a perfect spot for those who appreciate unspoiled natural scenery away from the noise of major highways.

Amenities & Park Features

The park caters to RVers who prefer a more traditional and authentic camping experience. While it offers electric hookup sites for modern convenience, the facilities are designed to maintain a rustic charm. Key features of the park include:

  • A convenient boat launch for easy lake access.
  • A sandy beach area perfect for afternoon relaxation.
  • A dedicated fish cleaning station for successful anglers.
  • Access to fresh water taps and picnic shelters.

While the park utilizes pit toilets rather than full-service washrooms, the facilities are well-maintained to ensure a comfortable stay for self-contained RV travelers.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the primary draw for visitors to this region. Anglers frequent the waters of Mistohay Lake for walleye and northern pike, while birdwatchers can spot various boreal species throughout the canopy. Hikers can access sections of the renowned Boreal Trail, an extensive system offering varied terrain for all skill levels. For a change of pace, the nearby community of Goodsoil provides local services, or travelers can explore the wider park system to find interpretive programs and larger swimming beaches just a short drive away.

Who This Park Is Best For

Mistohay is ideal for nature enthusiasts and anglers who prioritize peace and quiet over resort-style luxuries. It is a fantastic choice for RVers who enjoy dry camping or need only basic power to enjoy their stay. If your travel style involves waking up to bird calls and spending your days on the water or exploring deep forest trails, this park fits perfectly. It is best suited for independent travelers looking for a genuine, quiet Saskatchewan wilderness experience.

Very nice small n clean campground right on Mistohay lake. It has a boatlaunch , fileting shack (very clean) outhouses, garage n recycle bins and a lovely playground for the kids. There is no electricity but there is water stations . You will need to get a Provencal Park Pass & the sites for camping here are $18.00 a night. We will definitely be back
