Situated near Elk Creek, CA, this high-elevation retreat is known for its sub-alpine meadows and towering pine forests, providing a high-country feel often compared to the Sierras. Fire Buff
There is a lot of post-fire clean-up to do here. Fallen trees have made a mess. There are CXT restrooms, tables, fire pits, etc. Don't miss the Street View. Plaskett Station on the main road was used until '89? or '95?

Beautiful ponds, but the shade is no more, devastated by August Complex Fire in 2020. I don't think they stock it anymore or if it's safe, the burned trees could drop branches.

It's a long bumpy ride into a nuked out forest literally every tree is burnt too a crisp. But the ponds at the meadow are beautiful and there are still some green trees around the pond lots of shade and very quiet.
