Arrived on Halloween Check in was flawless a short distance from the check in station and showerhouse 1 Wonderful showers with plenty of hot water to spare. We enjoyed hiking a few of the trails on Saturday We will definitely be back here again

The park is surprisingly large. Went for the Fischer Cave tour. Got a private flashlight tour, which was the coolest thing. The tour was in depth and beat the summer heat. The general store was adorable and had lots of items to buy. Enjoyed myself at the collection of crystals and rocks to purchase. Went to the Outlook pavilion which was beyond the motel? The motel looked almost abandoned or as if it was a building for workers. Not really that inviting looking. The outlook pavilion was large and nice.

Really enjoyed the cabin. Unfortunately everything was flooded when we were here so my teenage granddaughter had nothing to do. The park does have some wonderful trails!

They said all the caves are closed due to flooding or white nose infected bats and the only trail really open right now is the Natural Wonders Trail. The trail was like walking through a fairy forest. Wear pants, boots, a bug repellent, and be sure to stop and look in the stream for tiny fish and cute stripped crawfish! Oh and all 6 of the staff i met were all kind, attentive, helpful/knowledgeable, and patient...

We had an AMAZING time here! The park is very well-maintained, the cabin we stayed at was super clean (and the bed was surprisingly comfy), and the camping and picnicking areas were spacious and had lots of trees for shade. Like all of Missouri's state parks, entrance was free for everybody. There was limited, sporadic cell service, however, so if you are staying here be prepared for that. Our cabin had No Service/ 1 bar of service the whole time (no phone calls, very limited or no internet) but there are some spots, particularly the visitors center, where you can get a small but reliable signal. There is also a small but definite risk of the park roads flooding during/ after heavy rain. There are signs at the danger spots, and the park personnel monitor potential situations and will warn campers of any danger. Also, watch out for turtles crossing the road! đ˘đ There is a cave on the property, Fisher Cave. It was closed while we were there, but it looked pretty cool from the outside; if we're back in Missouri at some point we will be sure to check it out again. There are several trails ranging from relatively easy, to an 8-hr loop that they recommend taking a partner on and checking in at the store/ranger station first. The park is only a few miles from Sullivan, MO and I-44, and there are lots of shopping opportunities in the Sullivan/ Oak Grove Village area, ranging from mainstream to small local businesses. It is also located within 50 miles of several other parks and attractions. Well worth the trip!

We were visiting St. Louis and were recommended to check out the state park about an hour away from the city. It features the famous karst river system, multiple hiking trails, and stunning scenic views. We spent nearly a day there, and it still wasnât enough time to explore everything the area has to offer.

The foundation has done a wonderful job in preserving this historic site. Many artifacts can be seen, but the animated dioramas are precious for seeing how the iron works functioned. Staff is also helpful and friendly. Scenery is beautiful. But the facility leaves much to be desired from a tourist point of view. Though restrooms are clean, shampooing and showering is difficult with shower water that only stays on 10 seconds at a time. Campsites and even restroom parking is gravel, and the historic drive is on a dirt road. A

Beautiful campground with many hiking trails with caves, and a serene river. Clean and well maintained. Excellent signage and helpful camp hosts. Bathrooms and laundry room need some tlc.

Great state park about an hour drive from St. Louis. The park has a good 8ish mile loop thatâs relatively flat. Would love to stay at one of the backpacking campsite

Stayed in this park the last weekend in March. What a great place! It has so much to offer. Huge picnic area with grills and picnic tables if you want to come for the day. The campground is big and is along the river. The wildflowers were covering the ground, it looked like snow. It was so beautiful to see your campground site full of wild ground cover flowers. Our site was a pull thru, which was great. Playground was close for our kids to go off and play. Vault toilets were also close. Those were the only ones open since it was off season. They have two dump stations, one as you enter the park and the other in the campground by the river. They have hiking trails. They are clearly marked with a colored tab on trees-so you canât get lost. We went on the Bluff View trail and it was beautiful. Wear shoes with support because it is rocky and full of roots on some spots. You do go up and down in elevation. You can hook up to the River Trail by the river and go down to the river if you want (which we did). There is a stone lookout tower that is really cool along the trail. We saw a North American Racer snake cross in front of us on the trail, so keep your eyes open as you hike. The campground is in Sullivan which has a Wal-Mart in case you need anything you forgot to pack. Meramec Caverns are down the street and the Mark Twain National Forest is about an hour away maybe. There is also a cave in the campground (Fisher cave). They offer tours. I hope we can come back to take advantage of floating on the river!
