Been hiking these trails since moving to NC last year. They offer what I love: to be one with nature and enjoy its peace and quiet. The swamp views are ever changing depending on the day, making the trails never boring. Photos are from last week. Heading out again today.

This park is a hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts- walking and paddling trails, camping, canoeing and kayaking all immersed in a wonderland of wildlife. Amazing educational classes and a cute little pocket museum and gift shop make it the best place for your next active family adventure. Picnic areas and bathrooms are super clean.

Very over rated vegetation so thick you can barely paddle , campsites are almost impossible to find due to being horribly overgrown . You can barely see water from the campsite and its almost impossible to c the camp site from the water . And the stench is almost unbearable . No idea how this is designated as a kayak destination but I will never go there again

A must see at the NC & VA line. Worth the trip and you can take the canoe out starting at;$10.

It's a little scary knowing there's gators in there somewhere! Beautiful scenery though. We paddle a few hours, but didn't make it to the bottom half.

Our family of 4 had such a great time here! The staff was so friendly and helpful every day, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. It was so fun canoeing around and exploring all of the unique flora and fauna here. We stayed 2 nights at a primitive campsite with 2 canoes, and I am already thinking of a fall trip back. Not dismal in the least!

Great place to paddle. Very scenic cypress swamp with lots of duckweed. No motorized boats were present in the pond. There's are some shallow areas further up the creek. Beavers and egrets can be spotted occasionally. Didn't see the gators, but I heard there are about three in the area.

We have visited many of the NC State parks and I have to say this one ranks up there as a favorite. It’s a unique park in that it’s mostly a swamp. Lots of great hiking trails in and around the swamp. There are elevated boardwalks that allow you to walk over the swamp. It was a very cool experience. People were happily fishing of the millpond bridge when we were there as well. If you enjoy fishing that seemed to be a fun spot. We will venture back to hike a few other trails we didn’t get to cover.
