Meziadin Lake
Overview
Meziadin Lake Provincial Park serves as a serene wilderness retreat nestled in the northern interior of British Columbia. This park provides a tranquil lakeside setting that acts as a vital resting point for travelers navigating the remote Stewart-Cassiar Highway. The atmosphere is characterized by pristine waters and dense forests, offering a quiet escape from the bustle of long-haul driving. It is a place where the landscape dominates the experience, providing visitors with a true sense of the rugged BC wilderness while maintaining accessible facilities for a comfortable stay.
Location & Surroundings
Situated at the junction of Highway 37 and 37A, the park is perfectly positioned for those heading toward the coastal communities of Stewart and Hyder. The surroundings are defined by the Nass Ranges of the Coast Mountains, which provide a dramatic backdrop to the expansive Meziadin Lake. The park’s location makes it a strategic basecamp for exploring the glacier-fed landscapes of the region. The dense cedar and hemlock forests surrounding the campsites offer both privacy and a habitat for local wildlife, including frequent sightings of eagles and bears.
Amenities & Park Features
The park caters specifically to RVers with a mix of dry sites and limited electrical hookups available through the provincial reservation system. Practical features include a sani-station, firewood for sale, and a convenient boat launch for those looking to explore the water. While the setting is rustic, the park offers well-maintained pit toilets and shower facilities to enhance the guest experience. Large, level pads are designed to accommodate various rig sizes, ensuring that even larger motorhomes can find a suitable spot tucked into the natural landscape.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of engagement, from world-class trout and char fishing in the lake to paddling along the shoreline. A short drive away lies the magnificent Bear Glacier, which is visible directly from the highway on the way to Stewart. For many, the highlight of a stay here is the proximity to the Fish Creek Wildlife Observation Site, where visitors can witness grizzly bears fishing for salmon. The stunning Salmon Glacier is also within reach for a spectacular day trip through the mountains.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for adventurous RV travelers who prioritize natural beauty and access to outdoor recreation over resort-style luxuries. It is a fantastic choice for photographers, anglers, and those seeking a quiet, scenic stopover on their way to Alaska or the northern coast. If you appreciate waking up to the sound of water and the sight of mountain peaks, Meziadin Lake provides a quintessential BC camping experience that balances ruggedness with the necessary conveniences for a self-contained traveler.

We stayed one night on the way to Whitehorse. Such a gorgeous location! Our campsite was by the water, it was very windy. The park was incredible and was well taken care of. We did have electrical. Book in advance for the electrical. This park does not have showers. Worth it to visit.

Stayed here on another trip and loved it. It's still a beautiful Park. It just opened the day before so there was a lot to get done still. The guys working there are helpful. My big complaint is 6 pieces of wet wood for $10.

Spent 2 nights at that park. Very friendly staff, spots were clean just not very impressed with the pit toilets. Again this is the type of park that if you like your privacy (distance and trees between you and your neighbour), than this is not for you. Food and gas just down the road. Great spot to camp so you can visit Stewart/ Hyder.
