This is a quiet and peaceful place to camp with a great view of the American Lake and is well maintained. I give it a three because of the assistant host, Sue. She bothers you each time she sees you. We were moving from one site to another and I was in the middle of ground-guiding my husband into our space when she interrupted me asked if I would say hello to her dog, JedJed who was sick with cancer and loves to be pet. I told her I was busy with the task at hand and she kept talking like she didn't hear me. Taking the trash out and she meanders down the hill to chat, head into the laundry room and she's right behind you. She one time removed my semi-wet clothing from the dryer and placed them on top of the washer so another camper could put his clothes in. The dryers run for one hour and I set my timer for 50 minutes to give me time to wrap up what I'm doing to head up to the laundry house. I always arrived before the dryer was finished and both dryers work perfectly fine as my loads were always dry. I only used one set at a time so others had a free washer or dryer since the campground is about 20-ish spaces and only two washers and dryers each. I was fuming mad that she had done that since it was my last load, I timed it so my daughter would pick me up, I'd gather my clothes and fold them in the car on our way to get Halloween stuff. They were still wet!!! If you get a chance to stay here, please do; however, know that she's pesky and her dogs are always howling.

Camp Murray, is a great campground, right on American Lake, plenty to do and see. Nice secure Campground. The Washington national Guard staff is great. The sites are tight but plenty of room to park your vehicle, the sites are dirt or gravel and only 30 amps is available. Will do just fine on 30. Little known fact is the rear gate on NCO Road. It’s a direct road to JBLM north and the army travel center.
