The price can't be beat and it was exactly what and where we needed for PCSing. The sites are a bit overgrown with the gravel having forfeit to grass and weeds many years ago. The bath house is adequate, but the showers could use a refresh. The laundry facility on site is exceptional and can support several different users at once. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Hoping DoD realizes that morale is also an important component to the fighting force and allocates some funds to update and help keep this facility in good working order.

Awesome campground! The staff is amazing and very accommodating, Dave is one of the best campground hosts I've seen in awhile! Very helpful and professional, all the staff is. This is my 2nd time here, 90% of the sites are conterate pads and very level. It's a small to midsize campground well maintained, bathrooms could use a renovation but I don't really use them. This place is always full and hard to find a open space. They don't take reservations, first come first serve. Which in some ways I like. There is nice HEB close by and easy access to the freeways.

This is a first come, first serve campground for $25/night that doesn't allow homesteading according to the website. However, we saw several rigs that looked like they were there for more than the 180 day limit. We called every 20-30 minutes during the stated office hours on a Sat, and no one ever answered the phone. That may be a one off, I'm not sure. However, the answering machine message stated that the campground will do a same day hold for a site. Of course, someone has to answer the phone for that to happen! No mention of that on any websites. We took our chances and pulled in to find one site left. We should have immediately put up the occupied sign and blue cone, because as soon as we headed to the office another rig pulled into our site. The guy was super cool though and let us reclaim the site since we were there first. The pads are concrete and fairly level with 50A FHU. Being in San Antonio, cell service and OTA channels are great. No wifi in the campground although it may be available near the office. The place is well maintained. It would be nice if they had doggie stations. Currently, the best and most direct gate to go in is the Luke Blvd one off of US 90 and Military RD/Texas 13. Once through the gate, go straight until you see the campground. You're supposed to enter/leave out the Growden Gate, but that is a long roundabout way and not every intersection has street signs. Way to go AF! :( If I could do it again, I'd shoot straight back through the Luke Gate when leaving.
