I'm a retired Active Duty Lt Col and grew up fishing at this lake. I recently heard about the behavior and actions by staff members of Outdoor Rec. The MWR and Outdoor Rec program is designed for service members, retired military and their dependents to enjoy. Its supposed to promote morale well ess and recreation. The actions by various staff members did not honor the mission or vision of what our great military and retired members deserve. As a former commander I find the lack of professionalism exhibited is alarming and not consistent with the service expectations. I write this review with an expectation that the staff commit to continuous improvement program remembering that the sole purpose of their positions is to serve those whobserve or have served. Im greatly disappointed and hope leadership recognizes an opportunity to improve the services provide by revisiting current policies and recommitting to world class professionalism. Beware! Unprofessional and belligerent staff are employed with Outdoor Recreation. I grew up on base and my dad and I have been fishing Lake Tholocco since I was a child. We signed up to fish the two man buddy bass tournament as we have down many times in the past. In fact, we fished the very first tournament on the lake since the dam was repaired over twenty years ago. The rules were displayed prior to signing up and when we signed the paper work we agreed to those rules. Roughly a week out from the tournament a young lady with Outdoor Rec reached out to say they were "trying to have a 3 day off limits period but were not enforcing it". Fast forward to the week of the tournament the assistant manager (not sure his name but bearded male with tattoos) called us, left a note on our vehicle, and proceeded to ride a pontoon boat on to the lake to harass us about the "off limits period". The assistant manager was extremely unprofessional in how he handled the situation. The harassment and attacks on our integrity regarding the rules were completely out of line. We informed him what the young lady had told us on the phone about the off limits and he said "Oh so you guys are just going to do what you want to do" in a smart aleck tone and then proceeded to argue with us on the water. Completely unprofessional and ignorant to what his own staff had told us previously. We were then able to discuss the situation with the Outdoor Rec manager (Megan) and she admitted there were mistakes made by their staff but brushed them off as simple oversight issues. #1 You cannot change the rules to a fishing tournament once said rules have been agreed upon by signature of the participant. #2 Outdoor Rec needs to have better communication between staff members. The lack of communication between the supervisors and employees resulted in this situation. #3 The tournament is supposed to be a relaxed and fun experience put on by MWR/Outdoor Rec. The off limits period is unnecessary for the scope of this event. People aren't fishing the Bassmaster's Classic. People are fishing with their dads, sons, daughters, wives, and best friends for an enjoyable day on the water and a chance to win a small bit of cash if you place well. It's definitely nothing to have an off limits period over and to have the assistant manager physically ride around in a pontoon boat and harass people over. Active duty troops or anyone for that matter should not be subjugated to said behavior. My dad is nearly 70 years old and I don't have many fishing trips left to share with him. Lastly, the lake sucks. The lake is heavily pressured and hydrilla has taken over everything. Maybe spend a little more time on fixing the issues with the lake than harassing those who are trying to enjoy it?

If you looking for a place to get away, you're in the Enterprise or Ozark area and you have access to this base. It is a hidden gem for military bases if you love the outdoors.

Stayed here for our son’s flight school graduation, nice 2 bedroom cottage with screened in back porch! Only drawback is you have to pay for the entire weekend and we had to leave Saturday, but that is their policy! If you will be more than 4 people bring extra dishes as they only have setting for four! Everyone is very friendly, it’s quiet and very affordable!

Absolutely the friendliest staff there is. Very inviting and extremely knowledgeable on what activities are available to patrons who visit! My only suggestion is to increase/look into a larger variety of bait selection. The opportunities can be endless!

The guard walking around the beach makes it his business to watch the kids when parents are around and basically can’t enjoy more than 4 feet of water. While waterskiing is happening on the lake. The guy basically made it so we couldn’t enjoy the lake and we left cuz they kept pestering us with our autistic child furious and unable to understand why she can’t swim in the water.

Let me start off by saying the staff and office ladies were great! We rented a 20x20 tent 6 ppl assisted us with setup and we followed the directions as on the sheet that was given to us. The straps that were given to us would not stabilize the tent. We had the tent up less than 1 hour and a light breeze came through and the tent collapsed, ended up not being able to use it. Was told we could discuss with manager at drop off we waited almost 30 mins for him to come just to tell us he couldn’t do anything about it and said that there was something we did wrong. More effort to create a better customer outcome should’ve been put forth instead of blaming the customer!

Lake is a hidden dream until I saw there building a big non nature apartment looking complex thing on east Beach side and really just doesn't look appealing...

it was very good. I specially love the bathroom being cleanness with smell. I just think there should be deginated areas for dogs to use the bathroom. Since there are little children being playing around. Also, Police were making runs around the area.

Great place to stay and relax near a gorgeous lake. The shower house and rec area are great facilities to utilize during your stay. Over all a quiet and peaceful place to stay....minus the sound of freedom overhead.
