It’s was just ok. I have been coming to Solomons for over 20 years and the place now compared to then is unkept, run down, and needs TLC. Staff and MPs were professional and nice but the tennis courts, dock, and housing. Tennis courts are cracked with weeds growing, dock feels rickety when you walk in it. I was preparing myself to fall through. Boards are splintering. Outdoor bathrooms have no running water so it was filled to the top with human waste and toilet paper. Disgusting! Housing was spacious but again smelled mold, ramps were old and wood needed replacing and not the cleanest inside. Disappointed in what this place has become, RV storage area.?

My family and I stayed here recently and loved it. We stayed in the 3 bed 2 bath cottage. It was clean, well equipped with towels and kitchen amenities. It is a short walk from the cottages to the beach which was completely empty in the off season. It is one of the more peaceful places I have stayed. There is also a laundromat on site. The only bummer on coming during the off season was that most of the activities were closed. We were able to play mini golf but the course had not been maintained. The pool looked nice but was closed. And we were not able to rent any water craft. The staff was super nice. We did a late check in. For others awareness to do this notify the gate guard upon entry and they will call the after hours host. Also when we needed to stay an extra night due to a travel delay the manager was able to do so and keep us In The same unit. In the future we want to try the historical cottages as they are closest to the water. And also the tent camping area. There are basketball courts and tennis courts and plenty of walking trails. It is such a peaceful getaway I can’t wait to come back. Some of the furnishings are outdated but all are clean and functional. It would also be nice if they pressure washed the deck before arrival or provide a hose as ours was coated in pollen so we did not use it much. There are also bbq grills at each site.

Not recommended and stay away from this place. It is poorly managed, managers at the office are rude. They discriminate against retired veterans and disabled veterans. Very poorly managed and the bath house arent sanitary / dirty, full of bugs , grass is always up to your ankle, the gate vs. the office have two different policies at all times. These people who run this place are being paid by our tax dollars but don’t serve their retired veterans. Cops at the gate also believe they have more authority than the POTUS. They allow sites with electrical & sewage to be submerged in water. See photos for your safety. save your money.

DoD ID Cards area required to use this place. This place is very nice, plenty of space, plenty of choices for entertainment, not far from good restaurants and a grocery store. Plenty of choices for lodging, RV spaces, full hook up and primitive, Cabins both large and small, Apartments, Yurts, and plenty of picnicking tables and pavilion. Lots of choices.

This place was everything we could hope for a long weekend to make my daughter’s birthday special. Details: -we stayed in 4 bedroom apartment -stayed Sunday-Tuesday -cost was ~ $300 -used all recreational amenities available on base Pros: -free WiFi -cable tv -Apartments are walking distance to pool & river swimming area -Apartments were huge for 4 bedroom! Each room had queen bed, dressers, closets, & living room/dining room is huge with pull out couch -apartments have one tv in living/dining room with DVD player & tv has HDMI input so if you bring cable you can hook up laptop or something -apartments were stocked w dishes, utensils, pots, pans, & full kitchen -each bedroom & living room had separate a/c units -no bugs, apartments were clean & no sign of molding -good water pressure in shower -all workers we came in contact with were courteous, friendly, & helpful -we rented paddle boards, kayaks, & used pool - all very affordable & not at all crowded -food at pool snack bar was good -mini golf course is fun & well maintained -video game arcade available -mainly private area since you have to have base access to enter Cons: -check-in Office was hard to find because we passed it on way in (it is located to the right of the gate PRIOR to you entering base) -the apartments are seriously dated (even possibly some physical security concerns) but for the price your paying for the need it met (a huge place that won’t cost you a bundle) we easily over-looked the age of the unit & appreciated how well it was maintained -grounds throughout the small area are not well maintained. Lots of overgrown area so don’t think walking down to the water at sunset is gonna be easily done in flip flops... -no dishwasher in apartment -only one bathroom (w no air vent) in apartment w 4 bedrooms...that put 8 of us sharing one bathroom plus this was only mirror in whole place -no washer/dryer & they don’t provide linen services during your stay so be sure you are hanging towels to dry constantly to reuse -items not in apartment that u should bring: —good cooking spray cause the cheap pots/pans have everything stick to them & are very difficult to clean (or just bring your own pans) —paper towels (really weird they don’t stock this but they stock dishwashing detergent) —all toiletries (no shampoos, conditioners, or soaps are provided) —hand soap for bathroom —power strips (most bedrooms only have one outlet) —beach/pool towels (not provided anywhere, not even pool had them) —coffee filters —groceries —board games/cards, etc Totally worth it, we had a blast! Hope you do too!
