Dry camp is now only 10 days out the month. Still $10 but inconvenient if you planned on staying longer. Still I will stop in when I come through because it’s really convenient and inexpensive for all you get and I really appreciate that.

Laid back park with perfect summertime weather. Keran (sp?) at the front desk is really cool. Very knowledgeable and accommodating with answering questions. Rates for the long stay guests are standard $35 per night. No monthly rate. 6 month maximum. The camp hosts are present (spots 1 and 9) The grounds crew is super attentive to maintaining the grounds. It can get a little annoying listening to weed whackers and leave blowers and lawn mowers constantly. Hunting season is really busy at VSFB, lot's of hunters stay in the tent area. I'm not a fan of hunting but I guess there is a need to control the population. There is lots of wildlife here...Rattlesnakes are plentiful, never had one in the immediate camp but the are abundant all around. I spotted no less than 5 Southern Pacific Rattlesnakes in my 6 months. Countless King snakes and your grass snakes... I stayed in one of the pull-thru spots (spots 1 - 20) adjacent to the parking lot spots. If you're craving privacy, less noise and commotion then definitely go with spots 10 - 20. Spots 1-9 get more traffic than the rest and spots 2 - 5 are really busy being across from the tent area. So if you like quiet, less traffic and not getting camp fire smoked out from the tent area, stay away from 2 - 5. it's a nice place to stay...

You must have the proper credentials for military base access to camp here. It's so quiet and peaceful. Lots of green space. Full hook-ups, rec room and laundry room. Although there is access to a beautiful beach, you wouldn't want to swim, as there are sharks. Lots of places to visit nearby. Close to Lompoc and their flower fields as well as La Purisima Mission. Just north is Arroyo Grande, Pismo beach, San Luis Obispo, etc. There are wineries in the area and Edna Valley Wineries on the way to Pismo. SpaceX launches a rocket about once a week in 2024.

Really nice, long, level sites. People are friendly. It was a Thursday night, so we just drove in and got a spot without a reservation. They also have overflow spots. We wanted to extend our stay through the weekend, but no one was in the office on the weekend. It's a 1/2 hr drive to Solvang and the mission if you want something fun to do. They have a really nice bowling alley on base and a cafe with a delicious chicken sandwich. We plan on going back for another night on the way back home. Watch out for your dog, though. There was a coyote lurking around the campground.
