Mitchell KOA Journey
No one can visit Mitchell without seeing The World's Only Corn Palace.
No one can visit Mitchell without seeing The World's Only Corn Palace. Established in 1892 and at its present location since 1921, the structure is stripped each year and decorated anew with murals formed by thousands of bushels of corn, grasses, grains, and other products celebrating South Dakota's bounty. The Corn Palace is mentioned in the book "1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die". At the Dakota Discovery Museum, you will be able to learn about the lives of the Plains Indians, the Fur Trade, Dakota Territory, Railroading, Farming & Ranching, and the 1930s Great Depression. There is also an art gallery with displays from various artists. Be sure to stop by Cabela's which is just minutes away and conveniently located off I-90 at exit 332. Return to our comfortable campground with Tent Sites, Camping Cabins, and RV Sites with a variety of lengths up to 70 feet long. We offer a pool, free mini-golf, bike rentals, a new playground clubhouse with three towers & ice cream treats to keep kids big and small happy. Be sure to stop into the general store where you will find a variety of RV supplies, drinks, ice, snacks & souvenirs. After a stay here, you'll be rested and ready for the road. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull through is 70 feet.
Please note: No out-of-state firewood is allowed due to the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle, Asian Gypsy Moth, and the Asian Longhorned Beetle; we do have approved firewood available for sale. Thank you for your understanding & cooperation.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our park. Your hosts: Mark & Steffany

Beautiful campgrounds! The bathrooms are so pretty! Putt putt golf, corn hole, playground, cabins, very clean and quiet and the owners were very nice. Plus they have a store for your convenience! Definitely will be going back!!

We spent only one night but our experience was outstanding. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. There is a nice selection of local food, treats and drinks as well which is really nice. Spaces were nicely sized and the bathrooms were awesome! We will definitely stay when in the area again!

With our big rig, it was nice to get a guide in! Close enough to the Corn Palace + anything you want to check out. Let's be honest, it's the bathrooms that make this location a hot spot. They are roomy, with shelves in the shower for everything + THE SPA RAIN SHOWER HEADS were a treat. I always send my husband in first to see if I'll be showering in the RV or in the facilities and he came back with the most glowing review. I agree! Super easy spot + we will be back next time through! ((Mitchell is also very dog friendly!!))

This KOA was great as a stop over on a long trip. The sites were spacious and well-maintained. The bathrooms were newly refurbished and very clean. Strong WiFi, nice place for us and our dog to walk around and enjoy sitting outside for dinner and a fire.

Very nice KOA campground, good location to continue our journey east. Very friendly and accommodating staff! We were able to get satellite at our site, even though there were many trees! Campground was very well maintained, and beautiful grass throughout! Nice patio and chairs behind the office! Full hook ups and pull thru site! Only issue was many mosquitoes, probably due to warm weather! Would definitely stay again!
