Mohican State Park Camp Ground

My husband’s family has been camping here for decades, several generations, he grew up here. This was the first time we’ve ever rented a premier cabin on the clear fork river. To be completely honest, we will never come back to the campground or cabin’s. From the very beginning it was difficult and it went all the way through the trip. The website ohio state parks uses is not user friendly at all and you have to reserve online. We have a registered legal service dog and i had to call about that, I was scolded and lectured by the staff. We arrived at 3:25 pm to check in and were told to wait at least 5 more minutes. The cabin was sub par at best for $220 a night. There are a set of bunks and a double bed in one room and a queen in the other. The beds are not comfortable and very noisy, every time someone moved you could hear it. Zero insulation in the cabin, you can hear every sound inside and outside. The tv didn’t work properly. There are signs everywhere saying that you can’t walk here and there in state forest. Campground itself has 2 pages of rules and regulations. Sites are right on top of each other, no privacy at all. Cabins are right on top of each other. One of the days we stayed, a staff mower was blowing dirt and leaves all over our vehicles and directly beside us outside our cabin. The last day we were again scolded by staff at 7 am outside and no one around , for our service dog not being on a leash. We won’t be back.

Beautiful Park, neat little towns in the area, great hiking trails but the directions are not very good on how to get to the campground. I'll just send you some pictures

My family stayed here in 2024 for the solar eclipse. The pull through camp sites are great. I definitely like how they're laid out better than most pull through sites since they're parallel to the road. Oh, and the kids loved having WiFi, even if they didn't really need to use it much because they kept themselves busy walking the trails. We loved staying here and can't wait to visit again sometime

Camped here on several occasions and always a great visit. Beautiful area, the staff are awesome! Restrooms are very clean. Hot showers in the winter time as well as laundry available. Great place to bring your family. Nature center and activities as well. Plenty of walking/hiking trails and fishing.

If you like winter camping, this is the place to go. I always hear that it is completely packed in the summer, but in the winter, it was nice and peaceful. The shower houses are extremely clean and well-kept, warm, and with all the resources you need. The visitor center has great resources, firewood, friendly people, groceries, and all of your emergency needs, as well as some information about travel. I really like the campsites that are on the river. I also enjoyed lots of hiking during the winter when we went. Overall, a great place.
