Not big rig friendly. Sites are small and most of them are not very level. Road leading into the camp needs to be paved. Roads leading to the campsites need to be regraded. We were supposed to stay 4 nights, but they were prepping for a big festival and the associated noise was too much. They had two refrigerator trucks that ran all day and night. We just couldn't sleep. Lake is beautiful. Our traveling companions ate in the restaurant. They said the burgers were OK. Dinner menu was two items and rather pricey. They charge for a vehicle in addition to the camper/rig. This is a first. We were already paying a high price for the site so it seemed greedy to charge for a vehicle. Could be a great place, but just needs to update the infrastructure and figure out a quite solution for the festival. Manager did refund half our remaining nights when we told him why we were leaving early.

Roads & sites are in poor shape. Very rough & unlevel. Most full hook up sites are buddy sites. Don't recommend for anything other than a small travel trailer or Class B. Great historic adobe buildings on site. Bathrooms are clean. Don't stay there the week before their big music festival. Way too noisy all day & night.

We had our trailer so I didn't rate the rooms. The place is beautiful but we struggled with our camper. The spots say it's long enough for a 26'camper, and it is, but there are so many trees that it's extremely hard to get it backed in. The next issue is the water and electric; they are on the wrong side and at the front of the spot so we had to scoot the camper forward. The tables provided need to be replaced. Most of the partial hookups are so unlevel that we had to put big rocks under our stairs. With that being said, we will go back if we can get into a different spot.

First off, check-in time being 3pm is the most ridiculous thing imaginable when you need to set up a tent, and prepare a campsite and actually get time for leisure. Check out time is 10am. What do you need 5 hours for between campers? To pick up trash, or do basic maintenance on the roads/facilities? I don’t think so because there was trash everywhere, the bathrooms are HORRIFYING! and the roads are so poorly maintained you spend more time avoiding potholes than you do finding your campsite. You are basically getting there at the hottest part of the day to set up, just to have 1 or 2 hours to do something fun like take a walk. Before going to bed and having to tear down and leave by 10am. Second, the prices… I’m all for paying my fair share to enjoy the great outdoors but the rates being charged for a primitive campsite are absurd. Additionally, the prices being charged for a tent and camping trailer contradicts between the website and a hand typed paper handed out at check-in. Next, unmarked speed bumps that can cause major damage to your vehicle unless you are paying close attention as well as the vehicle fees that are charged for entering the park; even with a camper. Do you really think people are walking there? Another unnecessary charge for a poorly maintained site. Finally, it is advertised that sites include a tent area for set-up but the site we had was completely on a hill and offered no areas that would be considered close to “flat.” I wish I could say the nature and scenery makes up for everything aforementioned but it just doesn’t. I won’t be coming back and I recommend you find somewhere in Colorado that is just as beautiful and has staff that WANT you to be there. OH and before I forget…When they say they strictly enforce quiet hours what they mean is you have to be asleep with lights off so don’t expect any night activities regardless of noise level. Two staff members will make sure to drive around in a golf cart with a bull horn yelling “go to bed!” Like we no longer live in a free country.

Camped here over the weekend. The lady that’s supposed to help at the check in station that was supposedly the manager was so rude and unhelpful. You would think with it being the busy season with families from all over coming to see beautiful Colorado there would be someone welcoming that could give some kind of guidance when visiting the location ? It was like pulling teeth to get her to help with directions on where to go. She was very unprofessional. Besides that I wouldn’t stay for a weekend or longer. It’s a great spot to come up for the day to fish or paddle board. So many better places in Colorado you could go with better people and views.

You could not ask for a more beautiful setting. It’s a nice campground right on the lake with beautiful views. It has a wonderful restaurant and a small bar. There are cabins and a small motel there as well. The restroom and shower buildings were very clean. This is all In a forest setting. Whether you are just there to tent or you have a large rig, they can accommodate anyone. The fishing is great, the boating is wonderful and the hikes are long and scenic. The only negative thing I have to say (which did not effect my rating) is the check in process. Upon pulling in we stopped at the check-in booth where I was asked my last name then handed a parking pass and told where my site was. Unfortunately I was not informed about the Wi-Fi code nor was I handed a campground map. After I got set up I just made my way down to the main office and gathered everything I needed. I will definitely return next season 😊

The name resort gave me the wrong impression at first. There are no TV, fridge,a/c.........To me it is more of a campground with dry camping,RV hookups , cabins and a lodge. They are only open seasonally (8,600 ft). The new owners are doing a great job getting the place shaped up. Great restaurant on site. And of course the lake itself is awesome. Since 1937 a true hidden gem of Colorado

This place is amazing. So amazing, our family has already booked another trip and willing to drive the 4 1/2 hours to get there. We stayed in the lodge, very clean & comfortable. The fishing was absolutely awesome, about 4 hours on the 2 man pontoon boats and we landed 23 fish. The food at the restaurant is delicious. The staff was on point and very friendly. Highly recommend Monument Lake Resort.
