Monument Valley KOA Journey
Welcome to the Monument Valley KOA!
Towering red pillars of sandstone give this valley its name and create the striking setting for this new KOA. It's a bold, broad landscape, where you'll be awestruck by sunrises and sunsets right from your full-hookup RV Site or Tent Site. When the skies darken, your hosts know to keep the lights low and focused downward to protect what is one of America's most brilliant stargazing areas. Step outside to experience a night sky like few have seen, awash in sparkling stars. A scenic drive will lead you to inspiring views, made famous by Hollywood movies filmed in the area over the years. For deeper insights into the local Navajo culture and Anasazi heritage, take a half- or full-day jeep tour with a Navajo guide. Local guided photography tours are available too. More grand landscapes await in every direction, including the Grand Canyon, Arches and Zion national parks and archeological treasures like Hovenweep National Monument.
Although we do have a wifi network on site, please understand that, due to our remote location, we are limited as to what we can offer our guests. Also be advised that there are limited cellular signals in the area and NO over the air TV channels. Max pull thru: 80 feet.

Rewrite: This campground is a mixed bag. While it's one of the few places with full hookups, the sites are very close together and it's always crowded. Almost half of their washers and dryers are broken, and the area is swarming with flies at least at the time we stayed there. Yet, it is just next to the highway and close to most attractions.

This is a great place to stop to see Monument Valley. Plus there's some other stuff to do in the area. The only reason for my 4 star review is the shower situation. The handicap shower head is broken, so that is difficult to use. And the middle stall shower head needs to be replaced, it was like razors on my nipples, which made it difficult to shower. And then the water went cold before I finished my shower. Everything else at the park was great.

Nice location. We found the highway noise to be acceptable. Spots do not have crushed gravel or a hard surface, so when it rains, the spots can become muddy, even with standing water. Electrical hookup locations are pretty well at the front of the site/RV, not in the usual location by the water and sewer.

The campsite is relatively new and has clean showers and toilets. However, be warned that sites far from horses are recommended, as annoying flies can be a nuisance. You’ll also miss a shadow as only a few sites have small trees, leaving the rest in the sun all day. Of course, you can’t expect grass in the desert. I parked our RV a bit crooked to get more shade for dinner with the kids. This way, it was still within our site and didn’t bother our neighbours. The only issue was that our car was slightly off the axis of the parking lot. The camp manager compelled me to relocate my RV to align with other vehicles. I inquired about the reason, as the car remained within our designated area. Her answer was: BECAUSE I SAID THAT AND I’M THE MANAGER HERE. The fundamental business rule is: if there is no customer, no manager is needed. This principle holds even greater significance when the customer (myself) has paid her, besides the campground daily fee, more than $300 for a three-hour Jeep rental to explore Monument Valley. The manager disregarded this issue even though other vehicles were parking diagonally to their caravans. Still, she expressed a significant problem when our RV cast shadows over our children’s dining area. It’s better to stay in Gouldings or pass through. However, there is one advantage of staying here. If you pay cash, it’s tax-free, the manager said.

Genuinely the most amazing view you’ll probably ever camp close to in your life. Also worth mentioning these were the cleanest bathrooms we’ve experienced on a five week road trip around the south west. We only stayed one night and had a camper; I imagine if you’re there for longer it could be a little claustrophobic in an RV or larger campervan as the sites are close together and the whole place isn’t massive. Very dry and very hot, but a good place to stay if visiting Monument Valley on a road trip.
