Moose Lake Campground
Overview
Moose Lake Campground provides a peaceful retreat within Moose Lake Provincial Park, situated in the southeastern corner of Manitoba. This park is known for its serene atmosphere and proximity to the tranquil waters of Moose Lake. Unlike larger, busier destinations, this campground offers a sense of seclusion and a direct connection to the boreal forest landscape. It serves as an excellent base for those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Manitoba park system.
Location & Surroundings
Located near the community of Buffalo Point, the campground is positioned on the shores of Moose Lake, which is a sheltered body of water near the much larger Lake of the Woods. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dense stands of pine and birch, providing plenty of shade and privacy for campers. The area is a haven for local wildlife, and the gentle terrain makes it easy to explore the forest on foot. The transition to the Canadian Shield is evident in the rocky outcrops and lush greenery surrounding the park.
Amenities & Park Features
The park offers a variety of site types, including basic and electric service options to accommodate different RV sizes. Standard amenities include fresh water taps, firewood for purchase, and basic washroom facilities. For those traveling with families, the sandy swimming beach and playground are central features of the park. Boaters and anglers will appreciate the well-maintained boat launch, which provides easy access to the lake. The sites are generally well-spaced, ensuring that each visitor has a private piece of the wilderness during their stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with fishing for walleye and northern pike being a popular pastime on Moose Lake. The calm waters are also perfect for canoeing and kayaking. If you venture slightly further afield, the nearby Buffalo Point area offers professional golfing and more extensive marina services. Hikers can enjoy the Moose Lake Self-Guided Trail, which offers interpretive signs about the local ecology. The proximity to the United States border also makes it a convenient stop for cross-border travelers.
Who This Park Is Best For
Moose Lake Campground is ideal for nature enthusiasts and anglers who prefer a quiet, low-key environment over a high-traffic resort. It is a fantastic choice for families looking for a safe and accessible place to introduce children to the outdoors. RVers who value natural privacy and scenic views will find the forested sites particularly appealing. If your travel goal involves waking up to the sound of loons and spending your evenings by a crackling fire, this destination fits your travel style perfectly.

Should be named Mosquito Lake. At least they're keeping the thousands of dragon flies well fed. If they ever make a replacement for DDT it should be used here! The showers take loonies. Facilities were good.

This place has been spread widely for camping, many activities has taken places here. But the public beach is not wide enough at all, if there crowded then you may not like to enjoy there. Additionally, make sure you have mosquito spray, because there are lots of mosquitoes playing around us.

The camp ground was clean, we didn't have any neighbors next to us, so it was quiet. The water was a perfect temperature, you could see small fish in the water. But the horse flies and mosquitoes were awful.
