Amenities & Park Features
The Gander Bay Campground is the primary destination for RV travelers, offering sites equipped with electrical hookups. While the park maintains a rustic charm, visitors have access to essential facilities including a sanitary dump station and seasonal water hydrants. The 158-acre lake is a central feature of the park, offering several recreational opportunities:
- Access to a swimming beach during the summer season.
- Multiple boat ramps for easy lake access and fishing.
- A seasonal concession stand for snacks and boat rentals.

Fishing is a popular pastime here, with the lake stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, and catfish. If you want to explore the local culture, the bustling twin cities of Bloomington-Normal are a short drive away. There, you can visit the historic David Davis Mansion or explore various local museums and shopping districts.

Tent camped here for 2 nights in a tent in the RV camping area, Gander Bay. Every spot in this area had electrical access although it seemed that a number of them were not working. The campground was clean. There's a bathroom with flush toilets and showers. The bathroom was clean. The host who checked me in was friendly and helpful. From what I saw, there were 2 tent camping areas, walk-in, primitive sites. There was water available at each campground. There's a restaurant, store, and canoe and kayak rentals. If you plan on camping here there's a couple of things that you should know. First you need to make reservations at least 3 days in advance. And second, if you don't have reservations and they have a spot available you have to pay either with a check or cash. They don't take credit or debit cards to pay for camping.

Stayed in the primitive Catfish Bay camping area during the week. Nice sites on the water. Park store has food, ice, wood and water sport rentals. Several short trails for hiking.

Calm and inviting spot of campers. Really loved the camping experience. If you have not booked a camping spot online, and decide to walk-in, you would have to setup the tent on the spot first. They cahrge $20 per night for camping. Has restrooms and shower area. Really loved the place. Also has a couple of lakes. Dont miss the sunrise and sunset near the lake area! Also has a children's play area to keep them engaged.. Highly recommended place to have some good fun with family and friends!..

Perfect day at Moraine View! Calm water, a gentle breeze, and wildlife everywhere — ducks, a heron, and even a barred owl calling from the trees. Met friendly kayakers and SUP paddlers enjoying the beauty of Dawson Lake. Great camping options, from walk-in tent sites to pull-in camper spots. Peaceful, scenic, and well worth a visit!
