Group camp had a great shower set up and nice level sites. ATT was only able to get 1 bar. Nothing on Verizon or T-Mobile.

Feb. 2022, our 2nd stay in the Uwharrie National Forest, another small campground with electricity but no water at the individual sites, spigots around the campground. We were in loop C, site 72. Most of the camp sites had picnic table and firepit at the rear of the site, not along the side, which we found a little odd. Great trails nearby, although it was about a mile to the lake and the trailheads. Nice, big bathhouse with very hot water! While in generally good repair the bathhouse could use some fresh paint and a little TLC. Very friendly camp host who had free firewood for us. Lots of down trees and evidence of fire as we drove into the Forest, and saw the same along the hiking trails, which were well graded and marked. Some great views along the trails. Overall a great campground.

Camping and hiking review. More like 3 1/2 stars actually. My wife and I have been full time RVr's for the past 2 1/2 years, blog link in bio. This is our first time in NC, and with hiking being our pursuit this was an excellent choice. On a 7 day stay we've hiked every day right from site #77. For a 38' class A this is a prime spot. Easy back in, plenty long, 50a, and one of the few water fill spigots we can top off our tank with a 50' hose is next to us. Bathrooms are reasonably close, hottest showers yet in our time on the road, outdated, but seemed clean. The road in, extremely tight for RV's with reduced visibility and no shoulders should you encounter another RV coming at you. At the campground loop C, sporadic VZ 4G 2bars, some OATV. Hiking: get a map of the trails from the office. We use a variety of free trail apps that work off of gps for location and tracking data. Alltrails & Maps.ME (free versions), and US Topo Maps (paid). Many hiking options. We've been doing around 6 miles each day. Sugarloaf (hike CCW if you prefer steep up and easy down instead of easy up and steep down if done as a loop) and Hattaway (similar steepness either direction) are fun, but the trails are 'fall-line' in places making them steep and uncomfortable for anyone who isn't experienced. The Fall mountain trail has been our favorite so far. Morrow Mtn is good for ling open views, but the hike up suffers from yet again another fall-line trail of about 1/8 mile.
