Moss Park

Overview

Moss Park offers a refreshing departure from the typical Orlando tourist corridor. As one of the largest parks managed by Orange County, this 1,500-acre nature preserve provides a tranquil backdrop for RVers seeking a genuine Florida wilderness experience. Here, majestic oak trees draped in Spanish moss create a shaded canopy, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere that feels worlds away from the hustle of Central Florida.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away in the southeast corner of Orlando near the Lake Nona area, the park is uniquely positioned between Lake Mary Jane and Lake Hart. This location provides a lush, lakeside environment surrounded by pine flatwoods and cypress swamps. While modern conveniences and grocery stores are just a short drive away, the immediate surroundings are dominated by natural landscapes and the quiet sounds of local wildlife rather than traffic or city lights.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features 54 spacious campsites equipped with water and electric hookups for RV travelers. While sewer hookups are not available at individual sites, a convenient dump station is located within the grounds for guest use.

  • 54 campsites with water and electricity
  • Central dump station and clean bathhouses
  • Access to a large swimming beach and picnic pavilions

The area is also famous for its resident wildlife, particularly the frequent sightings of sandhill cranes and deer roaming the grounds.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the on-site boat ramps to explore the interconnected lakes or enjoy miles of hiking and orienteering trails. For those wanting a mix of nature and entertainment, the world-class theme parks of Orlando are within a 30-minute drive. Additionally, the nearby Lake Nona Town Center offers high-end dining and unique shopping for a sophisticated afternoon away from the quiet campfire.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for nature-loving RVers who prefer a rustic, scenic environment over a luxury resort setting. It is a fantastic choice for families who enjoy birdwatching and outdoor recreation, as well as travelers who want a quiet home base while visiting Central Florida attractions. If you value spacious, wooded sites and the chance to wake up to the sounds of nature, Moss Park is a perfect fit for your stay.

Going to put the one negative at the top nothing to major for me but others might find it relevant; the map that is given is very helpful. I would highly recommend also using All trails app in conjunction with the map that's handed out as its good for a very broad general area of where things are but lacks precision. (You'll understand if you grab one and go ) When i went with my family it was beautiful, staff were very friendly. Park is nice, good way to spend the weekend if need to get away from the bustle and hustle of modern society. Trails are marked with paint keep eyes at trees. Start of trail will show which color to follow. Paths that we took were overall pretty distinguishable from non trail paths.

If you’re near Lake Nona and want to connect with nature in a pure, untouched way, this is a great spot. You’re safely inside a national park, with lake views, ramps for jet skis and boats, a kids’ playground, and walking trails. They also host kids’ parties. It’s wonderful — I love it! I can walk while enjoying the beauty of nature and listening to the birds. So relaxing.

Horrible experience – car broken into, no security, no support, ruined our family vacation We visited Moss Park on Saturday, July 12th around 3:40 PM for a family birthday celebration. We parked in the back area of the park, right in front of the pavilion where the party was taking place. In less than 30 minutes, someone smashed our car window and stole my purse, which had all of my and my husband’s important documents. We immediately called the police, and while they responded, the park staff offered no help at all. They said they had no cameras, saw nothing, and didn’t even provide a report or any kind of real support. The worst part was that our children were crying and extremely nervous. What was supposed to be a joyful family moment turned into a traumatic and stressful experience that completely ruined our vacation. This park has zero security measures and clearly no concern for visitor safety. We will never return, and we strongly advise others to be very cautious if you choose to go. You are completely unprotected here.

We are loving camping at this park! (In town for an event at UCF.) It's quiet. The sites are clean and well kept. The wildlife has been a refreshing surprise.
