1st Texas state park. Lots of terrain variety along several sections of relatively short hiking trails. The facilities have been upgraded, and the rangers station and gift shop are super new. I hiked with my dog on leash on the trails, and then we went through the campground to scope out sites for another visit. The campground seemed very nicely done. All campsites in that one campground have full hookups. That is the only campground open right now. There is a section of the park that is closed and being repaired after floods. There are interpretive signs for the different CCC structures that remain. There are quite a few different items of historical interest, including a cave where indigenous people were thought to have lived

Renegade 38ft w/Jeep. Site 20 ADA FHU. Yes FHU in a Texas State Park! The gravel was raked & I hated to walk on it. Nice big picnic area too. Secluded. Easy in & out for a big rig. Site held us and the tow-no problem. Lots of birds. A few rumblings from the SpaceX test area 18 miles away. Buc-ees is 30 minutes away. If you are married, you're going to Magnolia Silos, 30 minutes the other direction. I vote for Buc-ees personally. Who can beat BBQ, gas & jerky car wash? Staff at Mother Neff were Texas friendly too! Nicest park I've been too. We camped at Mother Neff State Park in a Motorhome.

On our way home from the beach, we stopped for a night here. We will definitely be back to spend more time. We had to leave early the next morning. The site was raked and clean. There is a lot of road noise. Still enjoyed ourselves.

Such a pretty park with really nice walking trails and campground. The CCC built tower, bell and cabin are so pretty and very impressive. We visited on a community day and the police were there with a drone and a search and rescue dog. The Buffalo Soldiers were there, libraries, geocaching, amateur radio clubs and other community groups all had tables. Our favorite both was Bob's lemonade - so tasty and refreshing!

I cannot say it’s the best state park in Texas but I really enjoyed and liked it. It’s a small park though. My favorite part was the rock tower and the cave reminded me of home. Definitely worth the visit.

Great park for RV camping with close proximity to Waco for tourist attractions. Full hook ups, very clean facilities and well maintained trail system. This is an awesome park. If you like stargazing there is very little light pollution. The only con is that the road noise is actually pretty intense at times but definitely shouldn’t deter you from staying.

This is a beautiful state park. It's small, but don't let that discourage you from visiting. It has a rich history that's explained in the welcome center. You will not want to miss the informative exhibits that explain its backstory, including how it got its name. The staff were extremely friendly and made me feel welcomed instead of just a number. The cave was AMAZING, by far my favorite part. Make sure you don't touch the brown patches on the ceiling; it is daddy long leg SPIDERS huddled together.

Beautiful little park. Very well kept and quiet. Staff were super nice. Only 2 small ponds, but the road to the river was closed due to flooding so maybe there’s riverfront there, not sure. Lots of trees and shade! I think it was too hot for most wildlife, but saw lots of dragonflies though!

On the smaller side, this Texas State Park offers lots of history. It's arguably the oldest Texas State Park, and there is a lot of CCC history still preserved today as well. The park offers some short hikes that offer some mild rocky hiking, and not just flat dirt trails. The tower's view is nice, at least for the roughly Waco area. It made for a pleasant day trip.
