Mount Robson/Robson Meadows
Overview
Mount Robson Meadows offers a quintessential Canadian Rockies experience, nestled within the second oldest provincial park in British Columbia. This campground provides a scenic and rustic atmosphere that allows travelers to disconnect from the modern world while remaining steps away from world-class hiking. The environment is characterized by its immense scale and the quiet majesty of the surrounding peaks. Located in the shadow of the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, the park emphasizes a natural, forested setting that creates a deep sense of immersion in the mountain wilderness.
Location & Surroundings
Situated near Tête Jaune Cache, BC, the park serves as a primary gateway to the mountains. The campground sits along the banks of the Fraser River, surrounded by towering evergreens and dramatic limestone cliffs. Its location on Highway 16 makes it an accessible stop for those traveling between Jasper and Prince George. The air here is exceptionally crisp, and the rhythmic soundtrack of the nearby forest and river provides a soothing backdrop for an authentic outdoor getaway that highlights the beauty of British Columbia.
Amenities & Park Features
As a provincial park facility, Robson Meadows focuses on providing spacious, private sites capable of accommodating various RV sizes. While the park does not offer power or water hookups, it provides essential facilities such as flush toilets, potable water, and a convenient sani-station for RVers. Each site features a sturdy fire ring and a heavy-duty picnic table, encouraging traditional campfire evenings under the stars. The park is well-maintained with paved interior roads and level gravel pads designed for easy maneuvering.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw is the proximity to the legendary Berg Lake Trail, which offers breathtaking views of glaciers and turquoise waters. For those seeking shorter excursions, Rearguard Falls is nearby, where visitors can watch Chinook salmon leap during the late summer months. Overlander Falls provides another stunning viewpoint just a short walk from the campground. Wildlife viewing is common here, with frequent opportunities to spot elk, deer, and diverse bird species throughout the valley, making it a photographer's paradise.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for self-contained RV travelers who prioritize natural beauty and quiet over luxury resort amenities. It appeals to dedicated hikers, mountain photographers, and families who enjoy traditional camping experiences without the distractions of Wi-Fi or television. If you appreciate large, forested campsites and desire direct access to some of the most iconic landscapes in North America, this park is a perfect fit for your British Columbia mountain itinerary.

Mount Robinson campground located just off the highway. Clean spacious lots with bathrooms throughout the area nice hiking trail to the river with view of the waterfall.

Lovely site, private and very quiet despite the road. We were as far away as we could get. Highly recommend for a quiet simple camp. Staggering views of mt Robson from across the road at the visitor center

Very clean and well looked after. Beautiful views. Stayed in Robson Meadows Campground.

Decently sized semi-private sites, quiet campground. Comfort stations are wholly inadequate for the number of campers and pretty dingy. Trail along the river is nice. Located right across from the Mount Robson amenities.
Sticky Nick
Beautiful location and unbeatable view of Mt Robson from the group camping. Quite a bit of noise from the highway but it can be avoided by getting a site closer to the group camping area. The free showers are nice and hot. Everything is cash so make sure you bring some bills for firewood ($10 a bundle) and for any extra vehicles (first vehicle is free, $12 per vehicle after that). The Fraser is nice and close and there's a spot close to the group camping you can catch rainbows and bull trout quite easily.
