I decided Friday morning to pull my kids from school and take them camping in our 22’ camper- I googled “campgrounds in the mountains” and found this site. It was amazing. The staff are so kind and loving and the river was beyond gorgeous with the mountains behind it. We loved all our neighbors it’s and having sewage on each pad is massive. We’ll absolutely be going back! 10/10 ❤️

Absolutely a Great Beautiful Campground with full hook ups! Sites are either in the beautiful Toe River or the pond surrounded by beautiful scenery! They have campers and tiny houses that can be rented. Close to many surrounding areas to sightsee, hike, shop and eat. What an Amazing job of rebuilding back after Helene. The owners of the campground are helpful and Kind even while continuing working on the campground! Definitely will be returning!

Second visit and 2026 already booked. Amazingly serene and beautiful property on the North Toe River. The family ownership and management set this campground apart from others - on site, hands on and always with a smile. Riverside sites are amazing as the river is (typically) a gentle, relaxing flow and just makes you stop and feel the world melt away. Amazing hiking all around, something for every skill level. Artisan bread delivery is a great and delicious touch. What the family has accomplished in rebuilding is a true testament to resilience, perseverance and love of land and life.

What an absolutely beautiful, beautiful location right on the river! This family has done such a wonderful job at rebuilding this campground after hurricane Helene. The love and passion that they pour into this campground. It’s like no other. We will definitely be back over and over again. Thank you for rebuilding to allow this beautiful campground to be shared by all.!

We’ve been visiting Mountain River Family Campground annually for several years now, and we simply cannot speak highly enough of this incredible place. Despite the challenges posed by Hurricane Helene, the campground has come back strong and fast, and it’s clear that the owners are committed to maintaining this beautiful piece of property. This year, I was able to work remotely while we were there, and I was genuinely impressed with the internet connectivity—yes, it’s that good! I was instructing virtually and had no issues whatsoever. It’s an unexpected but very appreciated perk for those needing to stay connected while enjoying nature. The campground is incredibly family-friendly, and there are plenty of campers with dogs, so it’s also a great spot for pet owners. While we don’t have a dog right now, we love seeing so many happy, well-behaved pets enjoying the space. The sites are all well-maintained and spacious, and the bathrooms are always clean, which is a huge bonus. Trash pickup is twice a day, so the place is always tidy and organized. We love it so much that we always book our next vacation here two years out, that’s how much we look forward to returning! It’s truly a place we can’t wait to experience again. Beyond the campground itself, there are tons of fun things to do nearby. Whether you’re into hiking, fishing, or exploring the local area, there’s always something to keep the whole family entertained. Overall, we feel incredibly lucky to be able to visit this beautiful spot each year, and we’re already looking forward to our next stay. If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-maintained, and welcoming place to camp with your family, Mountain River Family Campground is it. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at Mountain River Family Campground over the 4th of July weekend. We planned it a year in advance and were heartbroken when they were destroyed as a result of Hurricane Helene. They have done an excellent job of rebuilding and even have bath houses open again. The campground and individual sites are well graded and the new flowers are blooming. The owners are so friendly and welcoming that you feel at home upon arrival. The views are amazing and the entire campground has a peaceful feel. The mountain sites are more shaded and offer a better view of the mountains across the lake. The sites that back up to the river are nice too - you cannot go wrong with any of their sites! We were able to float on tubes in the river for the afternoon which was relaxing. We will definitely return!

My friends and I had an outstanding time here We are merely tent campers but this location was more than accommodating. It is so clean, beautiful, and peaceful. It’s incredible how they’ve come back after the devastation of Helene and while there is still some damage surrounding the site, it is simply a quiet reminder how this family and community came together to provide such an outstanding place for people to continues enjoy at an affordable price. We will definitely be back.

We spent 3 nights at Mountain River Family Campground. We had previously visited in May 2024, pre hurricane Helene. The amount of progress that they have made is nothing short of amazing. They are very friendly staff who are willing to help out with anything. Very personable the entire visit. The rebuilding is taking shape and the sites are spacious just like before. Could not have asked for a better place to stay. Will definitely go back.

We just arrived home after two weeks at Mountain River. This little campground is a special place! The photo with the park sign shows the high water mark from Hurricane Helene which destroyed the campground. The owners have been working non-stop on rebuilding and it shows. When camping there it feels like you're part of a little community. The sites and grounds are kept neat and clean. The sites also have room to spread out. A very perfect place to relax and enjoy.

Great campground with even greater owners. This campground was completely destroyed by a hurricane as most know. I stayed here before that and I recently stayed after it and it looks alot like it did already. The owners have worked non stop to get it back together and in just 9 months I could not believe how much they have accomplished. The campground looks great. The sites have full hook ups. Grass and gravel everywhere so little to no mud anywhere. If you are hesitant to visit because you are worried about current conditions, trust me this place looks better now than alot of campgrounds that have not had major damage. The area around the campground is improving daily as well and most roads are in great shape to travel on. I love Mountain River and looking forward to returning again in October.

Excellent family camping spot. Right on the river, fishing, tubing, and relaxing. Immaculate bathhouses, excellent gathering place with Cornhole, playground, foosball. Theres Soo much to do, the list will go on and on. We enjoyed the rockers in the shade by the stocked pond. Easy access to many small towns nearby. Parkway and linvlle falls close as well.Still a favorite

This was our First trip to Mountain River Campground and it was one of the Best campgrounds we have been camping at in a long time. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The campground is very well laid out and very clean. The camp spots had a nice concrete patio at each one with a very nice fire pit. Each spot had beautiful plants that were taken care of and Gardener watching out for all the plants. We will return as the Pond was beautiful and loaded with fish for catch and release and the river adjoining is very well stocked with trout. The kids had a Great time with all the activities that are available fir them. ThankYou for a Great Campground we will be Back!!!

We just returned home after 5 days spent at Mountain River. What a wonderful experience! The park is beautifully landscaped- loved all the plants and flowers, especially the red hot poker scattered throughout the area. Everything appeared to be well-maintained, the sites are spacious (we especially enjoyed our site on the river), and everyone we encountered was friendly. We really relaxed in the sights and sounds of the Toe River. There are many options for entertainment such as corn hole games, a small dog park, tubes for floating on the river, and wonderful hammocks for lounging and enjoying the weather. The showers and restrooms are nice and very clean. The park is very dog-friendly, as well. We never felt crowded and were happy to enjoy the quiet solitude of our site. We are hoping to return this fall and enjoy Mountain River Family RV Park again as summer fun gives way to the splendor of autumn in the mountains.
