Overview
Mountainaire Campground & RV Park provides a tranquil retreat on Vancouver Island, tucked away in the lush forests south of Nanaimo. This family-oriented destination is known for its **heavily wooded sites** that offer a sense of privacy and immersion in nature. Unlike more commercialized urban parks, this location focuses on providing a genuine West Coast atmosphere where the sounds of the wind in the trees and the surrounding wilderness take center stage.

Positioned in the Cassidy region, the park is exceptionally easy to reach for those traveling via the **Duke Point or Departure Bay** ferry terminals. It sits just off the Trans-Canada Highway, making it a convenient gateway for exploring both the northern and southern reaches of the island. Despite its proximity to major transit routes and the Nanaimo Airport, the park feels secluded, surrounded by **towering evergreens** and the gentle flow of Cassidy Creek.

- A dedicated playground area for children.
- Clean washrooms and coin-operated laundry facilities.
- Picnic tables and fire pits at individual sites.
These features, combined with **complimentary Wi-Fi**, ensure that guests can maintain a balance between outdoor living and modern convenience during their stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
There is no shortage of activity near the park, starting with the adjacent **WildPlay Element Park**, which offers high-adrenaline obstacles and ziplining. A short drive brings visitors to the Nanaimo River, a local favorite for swimming and sunbathing on the rocks. Those looking for urban amenities can easily head into downtown Nanaimo to explore the **harborfront walkway**, local breweries, and unique boutiques, or take a quick trip south to the charming town of Ladysmith.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is a perfect match for **outdoor-loving families** who want a traditional camping experience without sacrificing essential utilities. It is also an excellent choice for RVers seeking a quiet, scenic base while they navigate the central island's many attractions. If you value a **private, forest-canopy setting** over an open-field layout, this park offers the shaded, peaceful environment you are likely looking for.

We planned a weekend away for our basketball club. What a phenomenal weekend we had. We rented RVs and cabins to accommodate our group. The RVs were spacious and very clean. The entire campsite was very clean. The boys enjoyed the cabins and got the camping feels. There was ample Space beside the RVs to set up a central area where our entire group had our meals and late night fire pit chats. We especially enjoyed the short hike down to the swimming hole. We had great sunny weather on our Saturday there. I highly recommend this RV site for groups and families. My coworker is already thinking about booking in for next summer. Thank to Carol for accommodating our group. we also plan to book another group weekend.

Wonderful Family Oriented Campground. We stayed for 2 nights. Many highlights; -Pond with thousands of baby Western Toads (a species at risk in B.C.) - Great convenience store with wonderful management. Treats and ice cream in stock to buy as well as some arcade games. -A nice park in a huge open field with picnic bench. - Flush toilet bathrooms were clean with showers. - Water taps near campsites with potable water. - Wonderful forest walk to a pristine beautiful swimming hole/ river. With many little fish and crawfish. - Last but not least- During the day We got to vote for a movie to watch at their outdoor theatre near the frog pond. The first night we watched the wild robot. Surrounded by Bats flying in the sky, A full moon, And a huge shooting star shot above us in the sky. Going to make this a yearly spot for the kids and I had to go to thank you for having us :)

Really lovely campground! Stayed in one of the cabins. Nice location near the playground, and the site is forested behind. The pond was full of tadpoles and baby Western toads (late July). Plumbed washrooms were in good condition, with coin operated showers. There's a convenience store with a laundromat. The river access is a bit of a walk. There's a shortcut thats very steep. Beautiful spot to swim at the Nanaimo river

The trail to the river and the river itself are amazing and the star gazing at night is very beautiful. The sand volleyball is also extremely fun!
