Mt Baker-Snoqualmie/Red Bridge
Overview
Red Bridge Campground, nestled within the vast Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, offers a quintessential Pacific Northwest camping experience. Located along the scenic Mountain Loop Highway, this Forest Service facility provides a tranquil escape for travelers who prioritize nature over commercial amenities. It serves as a peaceful haven where the sounds of the forest replace the hum of the highway, making it a staple for those exploring the Granite Falls area.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated alongside the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River, surrounded by a dense canopy of western hemlock and Douglas fir. This lush riverside setting provides a cool, shaded environment even during the peak of summer. The geography is defined by the rugged terrain of the North Cascades, offering campers a sense of isolation and immersion in a temperate rainforest environment while remaining accessible via the paved Mountain Loop Highway.
Amenities & Park Features
As a traditional forest campground, Red Bridge focuses on providing a rustic experience. The sites are equipped with heavy-duty picnic tables and fire rings for traditional campfire cooking. While there are no utility hookups, the park features vault toilets and a hand pump for potable water. The sites are thoughtfully spaced to ensure privacy, and many are carved directly into the forest, providing a natural buffer between neighbors that is often missing in more developed RV parks.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
This region is a paradise for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The campground is a short drive from the trailhead for the Big Four Ice Caves, one of the most popular destinations in the state. Other nearby highlights include the challenging treks to Lake 22 and Heather Lake, which offer stunning alpine views. For those who prefer to stay close to camp, the Stillaguamish River provides opportunities for fly fishing, wading, or simply enjoying the tranquil water flow through the boulders.
Who This Park Is Best For
Red Bridge is ideal for RVers who specialize in dry camping or boondocking and want to experience the raw beauty of Washington State. Because of the winding forest roads and specific site layouts, it is best suited for small to mid-sized rigs rather than jumbo fifth-wheels. It is the perfect choice for travelers looking to disconnect from digital life and reconnect with the outdoors, offering a quiet basecamp for mountain adventures.

Been coming here for years. One of the best sites around for its simplicity. 1) Bring a water filter or bring your own water 2) There is the fast river, but there is also a small washout creek that’s perfect for little kids to splash in away from the fast water. 3) BRING BUG SPRAY 4) Anything you forgot to bring can be bought at the general store down the road that has saved my bacon more than I’d like to admit. Mostly when we run out of beer.

This campground is our absolute favorite! I would recommend picking a spot not near the road. The best spots are 5-8. Short walk to the river which is swim able in spots. There is zero cell phone service and the 'bathroom' is a vaulted toilet which really wasn't so bad. The campground is kept very clean which was nice. This place is quite lovely and very relaxing. We stayed in spot 8 which was wonderful.

Nice campsite next to the river, if you're wondering where that mine is, it's right across from the entrance and to the left, the bigger pit toilet is less smelly and there's a lot of privacy

Small campground on the river. Outhouses were clean and well maintained. Site is quiet! Get reservations early, as it fills up fast!

We've been here several times. They have single and double camping spots. Campsite was clean and while the whole campground was booked it didn't feel like we were right on top of one another. There is a glorified hole in the ground for when nature calls and the river provides white noise all day and night. Our spot had trees for a hammock (number 4) but I think the next one over had both trees and direct river access, so choose your spot carefully. Overall nice enough for regular time in the woods, but nothing too fancy if you're out to glamp.
