The current camp host is not very good. She doesn’t keep the outhouses clean. She kind of supplies the toilet paper. The women’s side ran out a couple times. The previous times we’ve been here the campground was maintained rather well. We paid online for a second vehicle then the host charged us again saying the online payment didn’t pay for the second vehicle. ?? We plan ongoing back next season and hope she isn’t there.

Great sites that are far from each other however the highway noise can be a dealbreaker. Camp host was sketchy and unfriendly. She moved her camper van from the camp host’s site to a different site during the day so it appeared she was not at the campground. Pit toilets are old and smell horrible. Need to be cleaned out and ideally replaced.

Review: Steel Creek Campground Steel Creek Campground offers a wonderfully secluded and rustic camping experience. The thick trees and underbrush create a sense of privacy, making it easy to forget you have neighbors. Most of the car-accessible tent sites are generously sized and feel quite roomy, with fairly level driveways that are great for car camping. The campground's facilities, however, feel a bit neglected. The bathrooms are old and dirty, with peeling paint and stained toilet seats. In some stalls, the space is so tight it's barely possible to sit down, let alone change clothes. A word of caution about the check-in and payment process: This is a first-come, first-serve campground, but be prepared for a potentially unusual interaction with the camp host. My experience was less than welcoming; a gruff initial encounter ended in them taking payment while appearing annoyed at being disturbed, despite it being their job. The biggest issue I encountered was with the campsite availability. After paying for three nights, I was told on the third day that I had to pack up because someone else wanted the site. The host claimed this was a "risk you take" when paying for multiple nights, contradicting the "first come, first serve" policy and the stated site availability. This forced me to cut my trip short and left me feeling like I lost a night's payment with no refund offered. Overall, if you're looking for a truly woodsy and private spot to park your car and pitch a tent, Steel Creek delivers on that front. Just be aware of the outdated facilities and the potential for a difficult and frustrating experience with the camp host and their policies.

Lovely camp sites near the gentle water sounds! Clean, quiet, lush, and our camp host was so friendly. The road is rough, perhaps difficult for RVs, but my 4WD had no issues, just a bumpy ride.

The camp host was top notch and great to visit with. Sites were defined and easy to figure out. Scenery was excellent, you could hardly tell there was a highway nearby. Roads are very potholed and not well maintained. This is not the host's fault, but is a clear example of wear and tear over the years and tough winter weather.
