Muskego Park (Waukesha County Park)
Overview
Muskego Park offers a peaceful retreat within the Waukesha County park system, spanning nearly 200 acres of preserved natural landscape. Unlike busy commercial resorts, this park emphasizes a connection with the outdoors through its mature hardwood forests and quiet atmosphere. It provides an authentic Wisconsin camping experience where the focus remains on the beauty of the glacial topography and local wildlife. It is a place where the rustle of leaves and the calls of songbirds replace the hum of city life.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in southeast Wisconsin, the park is conveniently located in the city of Muskego, making it an easy escape from the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The surrounding terrain is characterized by rolling hills and wetlands, providing a buffer between the suburban environment and the campsites. RVers will find the park easily accessible while still feeling completely immersed in a lush, green sanctuary away from major highway noise, offering a true sense of seclusion without a long drive.
Amenities & Park Features
The park features a cozy, well-maintained campground with 20 sites, 16 of which offer electric hookups. While the sites are more rustic than a typical private park, guests have access to a central dump station and potable water. Notable amenities include a designated swimming beach on the park’s spring-fed pond and several miles of trails that weave through one of the area's finest examples of a climax beech-maple forest. Restrooms and picnic areas are conveniently located near the recreation hubs.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Nature lovers can explore the recreational trails for hiking or bird watching, as the park is a known hotspot for migratory species and is recognized by the Audubon Society. Just a short drive away, visitors can enjoy the larger waters of Big Muskego Lake for boating and fishing. For those seeking urban excitement, the world-class museums and dining of downtown Milwaukee are less than thirty minutes away, offering a perfect balance of cultural experiences and outdoor relaxation.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for travelers who prefer a quiet, nature-centric environment over resort-style amenities like pools or clubhouses. It is perfectly suited for bird watchers, hikers, and families looking for a weekend of swimming and campfire stories. If you value privacy and wooded scenery and do not mind a more minimalist hookup setup, Muskego Park provides a refreshing and affordable stay in the heart of Waukesha County.

Very large county park. Very nice park with great group picnic area’s that are under cover. They have a lake for swimming. Each picnic area has a volleyball court. The hiking trails are great. There is also family and group camping.

The park has well-maintained facilities and a variety of recreational options for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The campground is clean and well-kept, Be aware that you'll need to purchase a Waukesha County Park Pass in addition to the per-night site fee. The park's pond is perfect for swimming and fishing. There are also hiking trails that wind through the woods and prairie. Other amenities include clean restrooms, picnic areas with grills, and an archery range. It's also a dog-friendly park

the place is great! family friendly and nice places to sit/grill at. they do have restrooms and everything but I think it needs to be booked. otherwise you should go for one that is already open. the camping ground looks great too, will have to try that one out.

What an excellent county park. Lot of great amenities including: camping, swimming, picnicking, walking trails, volleyball, and more. The staff does an amazing job, maintaining everything and keeping it clean. It's a gem of a park.

Nice family camping park. I camped on an electric site with my camper. Ranger will usually drive through with firewood. They also have a small beach area on a small lake. Have some tent sites and a group campsite. You can also rent one of the picnic pavilions for outdoor events. I have stayed here several times and always enjoyed it.
