This state park was amazing to go eat lunch at and explore! We climbed some of the dunes right on the beach and enjoyed the workout and the view!

Wow what a huge state park. As you drive along there's plenty of sandy beach to enjoy Lake Michigan. Lot's of hilly sand dunes. There's different campgrounds to find your perfect spot. Connected to the channel with views of the light house and the submarine. A must see and stay for day's state park.

I would do this again in a heartbeat. Instructors were nice and helpful. Got 5 runs in. Even a warming fire and chairs if non sliders want to watch too.

Great place to go hiking. Trails for both novices and those looking for more of a challenge. I highly recommend checking out the sand dunes. The walking on sand was more tiring, but my dog absolutely loved it!

The campsites here are partially wooded and partially sandy. Some spots have a decent view of Heritage Lake. It's a wonderful area to spot native birds and wildlife and a very short walk to the canal and beach (Heritage Lake beach is closest, however if you follow the canal path to the west it takes you to Lake Michigan). The canal seems to be a popular spot for fishermen. The state park is also not very far from Michigan's Adventure theme park, and the cozy Snug Harbor Inn down the road has a decent shop and deli/ice cream shop. Before entering the campground, there are two large parking lots right on Lake Michigan. The dunes here are wonderful and breathtaking. Magnificent spot for sunsets. Please protect the wildlife and vegatation of Michigan - pick up after yourselves and leave no trace.
