Myakka River
Myakka River is a river located in Sarasota County, Florida. It is the largest river in the county and is a designated Florida Wild and Scenic River. The river is approximately 58 miles long and flows from its headwaters in the Green Swamp near the Polk-Hillsborough County line to its mouth at Charlotte Harbor on the Gulf of Mexico. Along its course, the river passes through Myakka River State Park, which is one of the oldest and largest state parks in Florida. The river is home to a variety of wildlife, including alligators, turtles, wading birds, and fish. It is also popular for recreational activities such as fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and bird watching.
