Do NOT reserve a double site!!!!! Each campground in their forest service section gets to make their own rules. Even though the sign outside their office clearly states you will get a discount with your senior Lifetime National Park pass they said they couldn’t and wouldn’t. We reserved the site and tried multiple time to put our code in for the discount. A pop up said to show our pass upon arrival. That was a firm no from the 2 ladies running the store. They said they had no control and couldn’t do anything. When we could my husband called and after talking with several people and he was told it was up to the people at Standing Indian. Beautiful place but not good customer service. Be careful with what it says online and what they do in person because they’re making their own rules. For retired people on a budget that wasn’t helpful.

I have stated this campground for 3 years in a row. Every time we enjoy our stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. At the forest is beautiful and very relaxing. I would highly recommend staying here one weekend.

If you want to get off the grid and enjoy a peaceful outdoor adventure this is the place! Absolutely no cell service or internet here (even the camp store is wifi free.) A quiet getaway. We had a perfect campsite with lots of privacy and space. Lots of trees for hammocks. Great trails with flowers and a rushing river. Bathrooms are clean and well kept. Couldn’t have been better!

Great spot for camping and hiking. Easy access to trails nearby. Hikes can start in or near the camp or you can access a few more with just a short drive. Bathrooms were cleaned everyday and showers were warm. The whole staff were very nice and the area is just gorgeous. Edit: bring cash to pay for sites as there is no credit card processing on site.

I have been going to Standing Indian Campgrounds since I was a little kid and have continued the tradition of taking my children. It is quite, peaceful and a beautiful place to observe the nature and enjoy being with your family.

This is a wonderful place to camp BUT you cannot reserve a river side camp unless its a year in advance. The issue i have is reserving the camp sites is way to cheap and 75 percent of the time those sites are empty but if you chance camping there and the people show up you have to move. There should be a $250 deposit on reserving the riverside camp sites and that would deter people from reserving it and then not showing up. The current rate is so low that people reserve them in case they have a chance to go but if not theyre only out a few dollars. RAISING THE DEPOSIT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!! EVERYTIME I GO THOSE SITES ARE RESERVED WITH NO ONE THERE!!

Visiting this campground is a longstanding family tradition. Location is beautiful, trails are great, grounds are well cared for considering the amount of human traffic, and the hosts are helpful. The Nantahala river and forest is a wonderful place. A good camping experience is always dependent on good preparation and a positive attitude. If you've got those down, you'll be near guaranteed for a great time here! And if we all take care of the camp, we can keep it around and in good condition for years and years to come!! (For the love of everything holy, pick up your trash!)

Beware of Site 30! This is a beautiful campground. Clean restrooms. And almost every site we saw was large and shaded. Unfortunately our site had no trees, just a large bush, that's it. The same was true for the "campsites" in the same row. My personal belief is that the space would be better suited as a playground area. We were hammock camping and didn't realize this when booking. Otherwise, it would have been a great place to visit. Great hiking trails surrounding the campground.

Well maintained campground in the mountains between Hayesville and Franklin, NC,. Gorgeous campsites and trails in the Nantahala National Forest and along several creeks and the Natahala River
