Nat-Soo-Pah Hot Springs & Campground

Overview

Nat-Soo-Pah Hot Springs & Campground offers a unique recreational experience rooted in the natural thermal activity of the Magic Valley. The name itself translates to healing water in the Shoshone language, a nod to the mineral-rich artesian springs that feed the facility. This destination combines a classic Idaho campground atmosphere with a historic public soaking area, making it a staple for travelers seeking a relaxing dip in natural hot springs while exploring the Pacific Northwest.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just south of Twin Falls, Idaho, the park sits within a high-desert landscape characterized by wide-open skies and unique volcanic geology. It provides a peaceful escape from the busy interstate corridors while remaining accessible for those exploring the Snake River Canyon region. The surrounding area is largely agricultural, offering a quiet, rural backdrop where the steam rising from the artesian wells serves as a clear landmark for weary travelers arriving from the highway.

Amenities & Park Features

The heart of the park is the expansive swimming pool and the smaller, warmer soaking tub, both filled with pure mineral water. The facility focuses on active recreation and family comfort with several key features:

  • RV sites equipped with water and electricity hookups for various rig sizes.
  • A family-favorite Magic Carpet slide that provides hours of aquatic entertainment.
  • Dedicated picnic areas and an on-site snack bar for convenient poolside meals.

The grounds also feature mature trees that offer much-needed shade during the warm Idaho summers, creating a comfortable environment for outdoor relaxation between swims.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While the hot springs provide plenty of relaxation, the park is a perfect base camp for visiting Shoshone Falls Park, often referred to as the Niagara of the West. Adventure seekers can head to the Perrine Bridge to watch BASE jumpers or explore the scenic hiking trails along the Snake River. Additionally, the Craters of the Moon National Monument is within a reasonable driving distance for a day trip, allowing guests to explore ancient lava fields and subterranean caves.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is an ideal choice for families and road-trippers who enjoy a communal, active atmosphere. It appeals most to those who prioritize on-site activities like swimming and soaking over high-end luxury resort amenities. If you are looking for a rustic stopover with a historical soul and a place to soak sore muscles after a long day of driving, Nat-Soo-Pah provides a refreshing and unpretentious Idaho experience.

This place was nice enough for the family and the office gal was pleasant. My 4 year old daughter loved the pool. It is a little tough cash only, but they do have an ATM. Camp sites are close , and power for our trailer was 30 amp. I brought my 50 amp cord, so bring an adapter or be prepared to buy one on site for 55/65 $’s. It’s nice that it has a place to drain your RV tanks. If you don’t want an immediate neighbor , I would just eat it and pay for 2 sites , as the locations are tight. We got our 41’ Fuzion toyhauler in and out without problem.

We had made reservations for 2 nights to come in to watch the Air Show with the Blue Angels. I was not informed that it was cash only when I made the reservations, nor when I called a 2nd time to confirm reservations. Upon check in, the rude older woman, who was not very friendly, told us it was cash only. Thank goodness, I had brought some cash. Her directions were very vague about which spots we could go to, and we seemed like we were inconveniencing her. When we went to use the pool, the music was so loud, not to mention the hard rock music that was playing. A more neutral genre of music would be more enjoyable. This is a nice spot to stay, you just need to communicate what is involved with your stay.

Cash only! Make sure you bring cash they don't accept other forms of payment. The camp sites aren't well marked and some have picnic tables or fire pits and others don't. Plan on being friendly with your neighbors as they will be very close and may need to move vehicles for you to leave. Water is a ways away so bring a long hose or long power cord for hookups. Kids had fun at the pool.

I loved this place! Such an inviting atmosphere and the springs are amazing. Three different pools with different temperatures. The water is mineral rich, so it stained the lining of my swim suit. I'd definitely wear a dark one here.

The place is nice. However the lady who runs the office is rude. Not friendly whatsoever. Kind of a bummer that you have to pay $10 per person to swim plus pay to use the slide. The grounds are simple and nice. I’d stay again for a one night stop. I would suggest bring things for kids to do outside to keep them entertained. Sunsets are beautiful and watching the stars was the highlight of the night.
