North Bay Shore

Overview

North Bay Shore Campground provides a scenic retreat on the western shore of Green Bay in Oconto, Wisconsin. This Oconto County park serves as a functional gateway to the region’s expansive waterways, offering a mix of natural beauty and essential facilities for modern campers. It is widely recognized for its peaceful atmosphere and its appeal to those who enjoy the specific rhythms of life on the water, providing a quiet alternative to busier commercial resorts.

Location & Surroundings

Situated directly on the Green Bay shoreline, the park is defined by its proximity to the bay's vast waters and the surrounding lush woodlands. The landscape is relatively flat and accessible, featuring a mix of shaded and open sites that allow for cool lake breezes. Travelers often appreciate the nearby Oconto Marsh, a protected area that provides a sanctuary for various migratory birds and local wildlife, making the area feel deeply connected to the natural ecosystem of northeastern Wisconsin.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility offers well-maintained sites equipped with water and electrical hookups, catering to most standard RV setups and trailers. Key amenities include a clean shower house, a playground for families, and a convenient dump station for self-contained units. One of the most significant features is the protected boat launch and harbor, which provides safe and easy access to the bay, making it a primary hub for visitors who bring their own watercraft to explore the coastline.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Anglers visit this area specifically for the world-class walleye and perch fishing found just offshore in the fertile waters of the bay. Beyond the water, visitors can explore the Copper Culture State Park to learn about the region's ancient history or visit the Beyer Home Museum for a glimpse into the local past. The quiet country roads surrounding the park are also excellent for scenic bike rides or casual afternoon strolls through the coastal landscape.

Who This Park Is Best For

Love this campground! The camp host is very friendly, attentive, & keeps everything very clean. The sites are big & lots of grass. Definitely one of our favorite places to camp. 😊

Beautiful, peaceful, spacious campsites; one of the most beautiful campgrounds we've been to. Large trees, large grass expanses. Our campsite, #9, is on the water but there are about 30' of vegetation between us and the water, but it's still really beautiful. Garbage dumpster available. Not clean bathroom: toilet seat attached with temporary press-fits and fell off today. We have not seen evidence of the camphost .. Very clean campsite. We really enjoyed our stay!

Nice sized camp sites, big enough to keep your boat right near your site if you want to. Boat launch is nice and close. Definitely would be someplace to camp and boat. We had site 18, it was well shaded and we enjoyed it. The only thing to be mindful of is how bad the mosquitos are, the site does not spray for them and they are like small birds. Mayflies were fun too. Nice fire pits are on site, bring a grate to cook on.

A beautiful campground and park located in a very peaceful spot in Oconto County. The sites are beautiful and close to the water. And the park offers a large boat launch and plenty of parking, as well as a fish cleaning station, seasonal restrooms, and pavilions for large gatherings.
