Great camp ground. We have come 3 times now. Love how close it is to the beach .only thing I’d change is making it dog friendly

We had a wonderful week camping at North of Highland. Beautiful location in the woods, with easy access to the beach and other Cape Cod attractions by road. We live in North Carolina but have family that spend two weeks each summer at the Cape and so wish we were closer to be able to visit more often. Showers were probably the best I’ve experienced camping, and the restrooms were also very clean and well maintained. We loved it so much we made some keepsakes from shells we found on the beach. Makes us smile each time we look at them and remember the great times 😊

Spent many summer vacations at NOH. Been visiting since 1990. The campground has not changed much other than updated bathrooms. In a world where everything changes, NOH retains that old school camping charm. Bathrooms and showers are always clean. The showers are wonderful. They cost a quarter for 7 minutes. Water is always hot enough. Nice rec hall with pool tables, ping pong, Foosball, and a fireplace for those rainy cold days. Sites are decent. Most don't have electricity. Quiet hours are strictly enforced. If you came here to party all night, this is not the place for you! Great spot for families. Head of the Meadow Beach is just a short half mile walk. No pets allowed.

(reviewing for tent camping only) I have been coming here since I was a toddler (and my mother since she was a teen. She's in her 60s now, for context). We love this place. Warm and friendly and easy to stay. Feels like home. Facilities and amenities are perfect for a Cape campground, clean, functional, and just rustic enough. The access to Head of the Meadow beach is awesome and could save you $100/week on a beach sticker if you're willing to walk/bike and pack light. They've also done a nice job adapting to the modern world and designated their Quiet Room to a bank of charging outlets for all of your various devices. Feels a little weird at first, leaving your phone in a room alone for a few hours, but I've never known of any issues. Everyone is super respectful. Important to note that quiet hours are from 10:30pm-7:30am which is a little tricky with very young children. Our 2yo did okay with the minimal noise around our area after her bedtime at 8ish but we were glad we brought a portable white noise machine. And it was tricky to keep her quiet before 7:30 when she wakes up sometimes at 6...but easy enough to solve by taking a walk or ride to the beach for breakfast 😉

Update after our stay (now 4 stars): It is a nice place to camp. Good location to beach and easy access off Route 6. Spots are a little close together or close to the 'roads' in the campground... I wish there was more seclusion. With the lack of options around and the positives of this place, we will camp here again in 2022. Quick and easy positives - 1) The bathrooms were clean, 2) The showers were hot, 3) The store was stocked with reasonable hours, 4) It was very, very quiet here, which we appreciated and needed after long days on the beach. That sun tires you out! Cons - 1) The original response by the owner or manger to my first review, which has now been modified. 2) Bathroom hours could be a little better! 7am-11pm would be great. 3) Paying to shower in quarters, but whatever I guess! 4) My partner checked in before I did (we had to drive separately from separate locations) and secured the rest of the payment. He mentioned that I had not arrived yet. The person checking him out charged us an extra fee for an additional vehicle, which fit at our site; he did not mention this extra fee to my spouse, but I noticed it on the receipt. It would have been good to clarify this before charging us. When we checked out the website afterwards, we noticed the $15/night fee for an extra vehicle under "Rates & Hours" but wish this was relayed to us upon payment or in the confirmation email. Not a deal-breaker, though! Update to owner's response (2 star): I check my email daily, including spam, so the campground's response was not missed. After the original review I left below, I received an email confirmation the next morning which I appreciate. The person who sent the confirmation email did apologize for the slow reply. We look forward to giving them a chance in August 2021 and will update the review after our visit! Original response (1 star): After such great reviews and website information, we were thrilled to find this place. However, now over a month after attempting to book, I have tried multiple ways and times to make and confirm my reservation request (online reservation, email, and phone). After trying to make the reservation online, I did not receive any sort of feedback by email or phone call in regards to whether our request was approved or denied; there should be some sort of automated email response confirming they received the request and will respond within x number of days/weeks. And I have checked my spam. I have tried since making the reservation for a month to contact them with no avail. I know this is their off season but their voicemail only said that it would take them a little while longer to get back. It's been over a month now and I'd really like to stay there but need to book elsewhere so I dont miss out on getting a place at all. If you've ever tried to stay at the Cape during August, you know how tough it can be! I am so disappointed. I hope the owners are OK or this is some sort of big mix up.
