We were seasonal campers at Northwoods for 2 seasons and found that there were many pros & cons to this property. Generally speaking the property is well maintained with the exception of the rec hall and bathrooms by the ponds which need much love. We were located down by the river and absolutely loved it down there (minus the flooding threats but never had to move our camper, others did). We all loved hanging out in the river….you can normally walk across the river, sit your chair in the water, float down in a tube etc. We met some nice people, especially down by the river sites. The location was always very convenient for our Wisconsin family and friends to visit and only about an hour drive for us from the Western Suburbs. I hate to throw in the cons but I feel it’s necessary in order to give an honest review. The rates that they charge are in no way in line with what is offered. Food trucks are considered an “activity”? I guess if all you do is eat. Kids activities (when there is actually one planned) severely lack in organization, creativity or planning. Most fun events at the campground are run by the campers themselves and are always great! As a seasonal you have access to a beautiful clubhouse that is rarely used, never for any sort of campground organized functions. The 2 times we tried to use it last season we were sharing it with the “security guard”, who is also the managers husband, who was lounging on the couch watching a movie. Throughout the season many seasonal campers pull their campers off site to travel. We had already made the decision to move to a new location for the next season but there was still 3 weeks left in the season (which we had paid for). We pulled our items off the site when we had the availability one weekend to do so and pulled our camper for a trip we had planned. We had planned on coming out one last weekend to camp with our seasonal friends one last time only to find out the manager had rented out our seasonal site to overnight campers! Anyway, we will miss our friends but good riddance! After being at our new place for only a couple months I see how much we were missing out on by being at Northwoods. It’s very quiet and peaceful, I would say more geared towards retirees, not so much young families in my opinion.

This RV park charges $155 a night for a premium location, which is in the Sun. Other locations that are back in only on gravel and have shade and grass are much nicer and a lot less expensive. The front desk people were not nice. We’d suggest, unless this location is the only one you can find in the area - then avoid it!

I recently stayed at Northwoods RV Resort for an extended period and had a fantastic experience. The office staff, especially Tracy, were exceptional—helpful, friendly, and attentive both during the booking process and throughout our stay. The park truly excels in creating a great camping experience. On weekends, there were plenty of activities, live music, and food trucks, making it a very enjoyable atmosphere. During the week, the park staff were consistently busy with cleaning, landscaping, and maintaining the park to ensure it was always in top condition. The amenities were great, with a nice pool, walking areas, and a well-maintained dog park. Overall, I highly recommend this RV park!

It's quiet which we needed. Spaces are decent and alot of room from others. Very nice camper people here. Pool not as warm as yesterday but was good to get in. People in office Very helpful, least to me. Would come again when we need to de-stress totally

We stayed at this camp ground for one month and never complained about how horrible the water smelled. It was so bad we bought bottled water for our dogs. We were going to stay another month but then my husband needed heart surgery this came 3 days after we paid for the the whole next month now I know policy’ is policy, no refunds but heart surgery how about a death in the family I mean it is just a heartless place. Then when you call about this they lie and say manager not in for a whole month come on! Finally get to talk to him and he said we sign it nothing he could but then he passed the buck to his higher up, and we never got called back! Karma usually gets back at people like this! I wish nothing bad, but beware of this place The water was so bad it was hard to show er because then you smelled like the water rotten eggs!

Nice staff but very crowded camp ground. Got claustrophobic.

This RV park is supposed to be 5 star resort. What a joke! The bathrooms are nasty, pool is way to small, and there is no beach. The beach area is all weeds and two piles of apparent sand. There is a raft designed for kids to play on that us absolutely filthy. I did not see any staff all weekend as kids and drunks raced around the park on golf carts. Some of the sites wlook like complete trailer trash moved in. There are some beautiful sites and very nice campers that we met. They prices are outrageous to say the least. We looked into a seasonal spot but the price is way to high for what they offer. This park has lots of potential but the owners are clearly clueless!!!!

This was a nice little vacation in Garden Prairie, Ill.. the park has the Kishwaukee river winding through it which has a lot of large Northern Pike, Large Mouth & Small Mouth Bass predating up & down the current. The only criticism is that when the weekend warriors start sitting in their lawn chairs in the river it absolutely kills the fishing for days & it takes a few days for the fish to recover. Here are just a few photos of some of the toothy critters I caught during the quiet weekdays which was quite abundant; enjoy.

While I have not stayed at the resort, I was there for an event. This place was beautiful and is tucked away nicely - you would miss it if you weren't looking for it. The grounds were lovely and the facilities were nice looking as well as clean.
