Beware, do not stay here! We just stayed here last night (mid August). Nothing is as advertised on the website, claiming to be fully open and operational daily until Labor Day. No hot tubs. Restaurant closed. Store closed. Front desk closed! No way to reach the campground by phone and no response to their text line. Only 1 pool was opened. The water slides are cautioned taped off, the game room is an empty space with no games. There were no activities as advertised, no nightly movie, the soccer field has no goals, one of the playgrounds is cautioned taped off. The mini golf we were told closed at 4, but we arrived at 3:40 and it was already boarded up and didn’t look to be in use that day. No inflatable obstacle course on the lake. Paddle boats we were told we couldn’t use. No Horseshoes, basketball and volleyball were there, but no equipment so you have to bring your own everything. Dumpsters were overflowing with garbage! And for RV campers, the sites are on a hill , with multiple potholes from makeshift fire pits made by guests and almost impossible to level the RV. We had to switch spaces 3 times before we found one we could use. Not all waste caps were on at the empty sites making the fly situation unbearable. This place is also in the middle of no where, 30 minutes away from major highways, and about 15-20 minutes from any stores, etc, so if not for the fact that the next available campground directly on our route was 3 hours away; we would have left! Paid $84 for this! Extremely overpriced! The only saving grace of this campground was the security guard who was extremely patient with us and very helpful, and yes it has full hookups. But if you’re looking for anything besides just being able to hook up your camper in a fly infested field, go elsewhere!

Longtime Visitor Deeply Disappointed I take my family on a vacation every year, and this time we chose O’Connell’s RV Campground, hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. We rented two cabins and one camper site, spending a significant amount of money to make it special. Sadly, the experience fell far short of expectations. I used to bring my kids here years ago and always had great experiences. But the campground has grown so much that it now struggles with basic cleanliness and maintenance. The bathrooms were filthy—overflowing toilets and standing water left untouched for hours. One pool was broken, and the water slide operated only briefly each day. The cabins were a major letdown. The mattresses were damp and not waterproof, with cloth covers that felt unsanitary. Floors were peeling and lined with food and dirt, and the outlets were dangerously loose. It seems like they rely on guests to clean cabins, with no staff checking behind them. The yard was littered with feminine products, bottle caps, and overflowing fire pits. Other campgrounds manage to hire enough staff to keep things clean—why can’t this one? The atmosphere was chaotic: loud music, speeding golf carts, and even a visibly intoxicated person vomiting near the playground—my grandkids had to step over it. One family member left early because the cabin was so dirty their child kept trying to eat debris from the floor. The playground was outdated and unsafe, clearly from the 1970s and made of metal—not suitable for young children. I had chosen cabins near the park hoping my two autistic grandkids from Missouri could enjoy it, and I’m honestly relieved they couldn’t come. On a positive note, the front desk and store staff were kind and helpful, and the location is convenient. But overall, the campground has declined significantly. If they can’t maintain the property, they should reduce its size. I won’t be returning—and neither will my family. To make matters worse, I’ve left two messages for management and am still waiting for a call back. No one has responded.

This campground is not part of Yogi Bear. False advertising. When I called to complain about not having Yogi services they said their site was not updated. The store was not open for us to buy any supplies. The pool I paid extra money to be by was closed half the time we were there. The water slides close at 4:00 p.m. want to play candy bingo but I had to get the candy from the store which was closed. Whenever I had a complaint about something it was pushed off onto somebody else. Sorry that's not our department we don't have control over that. Or the front office computer were down. Or they said corporate takes care of that. It was a very disappointing trip. Don't be shocked by their false advertising and go there expecting to see Yogi Bear.

We have been coming to this location to camp for several years (10+) and I noticed that each year, it gets worse. I have yet to see all 4 pools open with the exception of this year. 1 pool wasn't even filled until Thursday or Friday of the 4th of July weekend! One of the busiest and hottest weekends! Since losing the Yogi Bear status, the campground has gone downhill significantly. The pool water was brown, they ran out of ice at the store and the one stand alone ice machine was out of order the entire weekend. The lost water pressure for several hours on Saturday. The bathroom and shower houses were deplorable. Hadn't been cleaned, toilets were clogged with feces on the seats. The tent campers depend on these facilities to bath and use the restroom. The number of inebriated golf cart drivers or 16 year old kids speeding out of control was insane. You can not take a leisurely stroll without someone tailgating or speeding through intersections. I saw an inebriated girl turn the corner in her golf cart and fall out while the golf cart kept going. Of course her beer can came rolling into our campsite. Bottom line, you have to do better. You have become greedy and allow far too many campers to enter the campground and your infrastructure simply cannot handle that many people. You keep adding on campsites but you do not add additional shower houses or pools. The excuse that we heard this weekend was that you were short staffed. That is not good enough. You plan for this and be prepared for the influx of people. Yet you charge an insane amount to camp there - I don't get it. I have noticed that a large portion of seasonal campers have pulled out of the new section and there were many campers for sale. Perhaps that should tell you something?

Terrible experience!!! My family and I have been coming here for thirteen years and it use to be beautiful, but for the last three years it's been crap. Now that there is new ownership it all went down hill. The bathrooms are GROSS! There was no toilet paper or soap. The pools did not have chlorine they smelled like pee! That's very unsanitary. You don't get trash bags anymore and now you have to throw your own trash out. There is no staff to help you. The food court is not opened. No more funnel cakes!!! The water was off of Saturday July 5. You could not use the bathrooms, shower or even wash your hands. They are super strict here but don't reciprocate when it comes to good costumer service. I will be looking for a new place to take my family. This place only wants to make a quick buck.

We've been coming to this campground for the Halloween weekend for 15+ years with a large group (30-50 people). I have mixed reviews after this year's experience: Good: 1.) Huge campground, lots of room to move around and explore, well marked for navigation 2.) Clean and well-kept (especially for a busy weekend it was the last weekend of the season) 3.) Professional staff Bad: 1.) EXPENSIVE...+$120 for FHU but on grass (which was very unlevel). Suggestion: add some gravel (I'm worried to park my 24K lbs RV on grass) 2.) Halloween weekend changes were not good...Historically, Trick-or-treat was on Saturday and cars/golf cart traffic not allowed. But this year it was moved to Sunday and cars/golf carts were everywhere...this resulted in very low attendance and unsafe conditions for trick-or-treators 3.) Future reservations...this weekend is an annual tradition for many families, so its important to have the ability secure next year site # (especially for large groups, such as mine). Historically, O'connell would allow current year campers to book same site # for next year by blocking/holding for them until Sunday, which allowed campers ample time to formally book/pay. This year, the following year sites were 1st-come-1st serve...not a smart way to treat returning customers.

This campground is for seasonals only. Way overpriced with awful campsites. Events are not communicated and the ones that they had, you needed 'special reservations' to even attend. I almost saw multiple golf cart accidents; they drive them like race cars there. Not safe for kids or pets. Oh, the the water there smells like rotten eggs. If you like to party, be unsafe and race golf carts, this place is probably for you. If you are there with loved ones, I'd suggest to stay away.

We have been camping here for the past 10 years, this year we decided to purchase the annual membership and keep it RV there all season. We are not renewing our contract, it is boring. There are not many activities, and I think less people are coming here so it looks dead. It is kind of dirty too. The price is just not worth it because it’s not a fun location. I thought it was much more fun when it was yogi bear.

Nice campground. We were there for a father daughter campout with 16 families for the end of year Halloween festivities. Had a great haunted house, son fun candy bingo( 1 large candy bar for each bingo card you want), a decent band on Saturday night along with some fun trick or treating for kids and adults.

My family has been coming to O’Connels for the past 15 years and has camped at primitive sites and the trailer sites. It is within the past two, since the selling to Thousand Trails that we have now had some complaints . In comparison to Yogi Bear, I find that there are less things to do that are family oriented. Less activities geared toward children which was a large part as to why we came. If they could have more Kid-Friendly activities that would help. The facilities and amenities have also become lackluster. The beach at the front has removed the inflatable play area which used to float and be so much to explore. The lake is seldom ever stocked with fish for families to enjoy fishing. Kayaking and Canoeing seem to have taken a back seat as well. The pool that is in the center of the area has a hot tub that does not have anyone to enforce the “no kids under 16” so much so you had some parents with their infants. The hot tubs in both pools were also green with algae and not as clean and taken care of as a public pool ought to be Arrival times and departure times are not posted for those incoming or departing. No overnight staff has lead to no enforcement of quiet hours starting at 11pm, we have people partying and thinking well into 1am and nobody does anything about it. The primitive bathrooms were hardly cleaned or power washed. In our 4-day stay they did not come to clean them once that we saw. And then finally the price point is not a good representation of the experience. If we pay around 100$ a night on a weekend, only to have to leave by 11am on Sunday, I feel that it is a waste of money, if we pay for a full days price then as customers we should be allowed to spend a full day on Sunday if we so choose and not have to pay a 30$ late checkout fee only to leave at 1pm vs 11am. While I’m not writing it off completely it definitely has changed and not entirely for the better. I hope that some things change for the next season otherwise we may be taking our business elsewhere.

Good campground with service for all types of camping. Full service 50 amp and 30 amp sites. With every thing in between. I would say they are definitely on the expensive side but if you have young kids or teens they should have a blast. Multiple pools, arcade games, water slides, and mini golf just to name a few things to do. Every weekend they have some type of event going on with even more to do. I think my biggest negative it that is a very loud and active campground with lots of golf carts. Best way to put it if you are looking for a quiet campground to get away for civilization for a few day this wouldnt be it. But if you want an active campground with lots to do this is for you.

The young man Ethan is very very Unprofessionable after being hung up on twice by him I was finally able to speak to him to add a site for an upcoming visit, you spoke as if he didn't want to be bothered couldn't answer a question and was rushed off the phone, also when asked to speak to someone else was informed they don't have management. needless to say already not looking forward to this visit if most of the staff is like that. On the plus side the young lady candy I spoke to early morning was amazing every question she had an answer she took the time to explain the park and other things.

It was very nice, good service, and was very clean, not what you would expect from a this type of place, though the noise here is pretty bad, but is bearable, but otherwise very nice stay, cant wait to see how the rest of the visit treats me😁

It was hard to consider this place. With so many cabins and rvs everyone is literally next to each other. No privacy.literally close to your neighbor then my neighbor in the city.
