This is a really nice family run RV park with very long and wide pull through spaces that have a nice grass and tree buffer between them. Mike and Shelly are quite friendly and you can tell they enjoy running this park. The park is across from the south shore of Clear Lake, and is only 3 miles or so from the freeway.

This was was awesome. Well groomed and the people were awesome. Lots of shade and close to the Surf Ballroom if you’re a Buddy Holly fan. The staff also gave us directions to the crash site of Buddy Holly. You can also visit the funeral home where all three stars were taken care of as well.

We had a really nice stay four times at what we think is a very nice campground (Oakwood Campground, Clear Lake, Iowa) with great pull through sites with full hookup. We thought we were getting along fine with the management and they had not informed us of any issues. Mind you this was the first that we knew of any problem after staying 4 times in one summer. We are, basicly, rule followers and have never had a problem over many decades of camping. We respect that it entails a lot of hard work to run a campground well. We acknowledge that we were wrong and made a mistake. We overstayed past noon without asking for an extension. Management approached us very agitated, accused us of overstaying and planning to winterize. She did not accept our apology, our explanation that we were not winterizing on the campground property or our offer to pay. The other half of the management then stopped in his pickup truck and yelled. "This better not ever happen again." I went to visit with him to tell him we were sorry and did not mean to intentionally frustrate or anger them. I apologized again as my husband and daughter had. I shared that we really enjoyed the campground. He did not want to visit with me and kept saying, "We are not going to talk about this."He blamed us for coming in too close to closing time twice. Apparently, 15 minutes prior to closing is too late. Blamed us for not reading the rules (we had). Blamed us for planning to winterize (he would not listen to find out we were not planning to winterize). We have never winterized in a campground. We sent a check for more than our over stay and they sent it back voided. Mind you we had had no unkind words with this couple previous to this situation. We were the ones being yelled at and unable to visit civilly with them. We tried. We did not yell or act belligerently towards either of them. I expect management to be able to inform us of a mistake we made in a civil manner not in a belligerent or threatening manner. I also expect to be able to do the right thing to make amends if we are wrong and have made a mistake.

We stayed overnight on our way to our family vacation destination. We loved it so much that we came back through on our way back home to stay a few days. The campgrounds hosts are super nice, check in is very organized and efficient and the campground is well maintained. The sites are big and the nearby downtown appears to be really nice. Side note: there is a pizza place in town that delivers to your site!!

We stayed nine nights with some friends and are just leaving for home. What a nice park! We were greeted when we arrived by Mike, the owner. We received an escort to our sites which was really great, since we've never been before. The sites are huge up on the south end! We really liked the design of the park, it made things so easy. The facilities were clean, water pressure good and wifi was strong. We camped with our two golden retrievers and things went great. We really liked the pet walk area they have for walking the dogs. It keeps the mess out of our campsites and everyone seemed to do their part in cleaning up. We hope to come back again next year!

Definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ! Very nice campground and Mike the campground host was very helpful... He gave us some great ideas 💡 of things to go see in the area. Take a boat ride around the lake,, Buddy Holly crash site, The Surf theater. One other idea was the "Grotto". Check it out, (Google it) Its a must see.. Definitely would stay here again!

This is NOT a pet friendly campsite. When we first arrived and were shown to our spot the first thing they said to us is that our dogs may be excited to be here but they must be quiet and not bark. I have 3 young dogs and I found that odd for a "Pet Friendly" campground. My boys are extremely social as they are still very young. Later that night around 10pm some people were walking their dog and my boys got really excited to see another dog and started barking. They barked about 2-3 minutes before we calmed them down. The next morning the owner came by and said "What are your plans today to keep them quiet? I heard them bark last night and it's not acceptable." I could understand if they were barking obsessively throughout the day or night but it was only a couple times and only for a couple of minutes when they would see children or other dogs bc they wanted to play. I would not recommend this campground to anyone who has social dogs or young dogs. They are "Pet Friendly" to extremely quiet dogs that are seen and not heard. It made for a very miserable weekend for both my boys and us always being on edge if they made a peep we would get kicked out. They also have no activities at all and a small playground that made a piercing screech when the kids were in the swings.

Beautiful place to spend a week or more...or less. Stayed 2 nights and booked for 7 more on the return trip. Extra long pull throughs and plenty of trees for shade. Mike and Shelley are great park hosts and made us feel welcome. The park facilities are very clean and the grounds are well kept. Very close to the lake and quick access to bait and tackle. Thank you for an awesome stay...and more to come. God bless
