Okanogan-Wenatchee/Crawfish Lake
Overview
Crawfish Lake is a hidden gem tucked away within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Situated at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet, this campground offers a serene escape from the heat of the lower valleys. It is a primitive destination that prioritizes the raw beauty of the Pacific Northwest, providing RVers with a true backcountry experience where the sound of the wind through the pines replaces the hum of highway traffic. This is a place where nature takes center stage.
Location & Surroundings
Located about 20 miles northeast of Riverside, Washington, the journey to the lake involves navigating gravel forest roads that wind through dense stands of Douglas fir and ponderosa pine. The campground sits directly on the shores of Crawfish Lake, offering stunning reflections of the surrounding ridges. Because it is remote, visitors should prepare for a secluded wilderness environment where cell service is often unavailable, allowing for a complete digital detox under the stars.
Amenities & Park Features
As a National Forest site, the amenities are simple and geared toward dry camping enthusiasts. Travelers will find vault toilets, picnic tables, and metal fire rings at each site. There are no electric, water, or sewer hookups, so it is essential to arrive with full tanks and supplies. A primitive boat launch provides easy access for those bringing kayaks or canoes, while the spaced-out sites offer a level of privacy and quiet that is rarely found in commercial parks.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw is the water, where anglers frequently fish for rainbow trout in the clear mountain lake. Non-motorized boating is popular here, keeping the atmosphere quiet and peaceful for everyone on the shore. On land, the Crawfish Lake Trail offers a moderate hike with excellent views of the Okanogan Highlands. Wildlife enthusiasts often spot mule deer, diverse bird species, and occasionally moose wandering through the riparian areas near the water's edge.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for self-contained RVers and van lifers who enjoy boondocking-style travel. Due to the narrow and sometimes rough forest access roads, it is best suited for smaller campers, truck campers, or high-clearance trailers rather than large luxury motorhomes. If you are looking to unplug and reconnect with nature far from the amenities of town, Crawfish Lake provides the perfect high-altitude sanctuary for your next mountain adventure.

It’s a beautiful place. Nice road. Dry camping. There is an electrical stand. Looks like it is most likely for the new camp host site.
