For those who prefer land-based adventures, the Kachess Ridge Trail offers challenging climbs and rewarding vistas of the surrounding valley. A short drive leads to the Cle Elum area, where travelers can explore local historic sites, find additional supplies, or enjoy a meal at a mountain-themed tavern before returning to the woods.

Beautiful time of year for fall colors

Well... I would not recommend following the Google pin as it is just a random point on a dirt road, but... It is a large national forest. If you do follow Google's pin there is a nice view over the Columbia right after you turn off the highway, and then follow the road back to the pin and there is an okay view up the valley. Not much else to see from the car.

I absolutely love this National Park. There is so much recreation to be had. Whether it is 2 wheels, 4 wheels, 2 legs, or 4 legged, you will find plenty to do. All outdoor recreation permitted, just leave it better than you found it is our motto.

It had rained yesterday and the trail was moist but not muddy. It was cool under the trees. Lots of butterflies over the blooming flowers. My younger companions compared the forest with a castle, because of the tall big trees and the shades. It is magical. Definitely bring bug spray. Lots of mosquitoes.
