Ouachita Lake - COE/Brady Mountain

RV Park

Overview

Overview

Located on the shores of Lake Ouachita, the Brady Mountain Recreation Area is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed facility that offers a quintessential outdoor getaway. This park is defined by its rolling hills and expansive waterfront views, providing a serene environment for those looking to disconnect and enjoy nature. Because it is a federal recreation area, the focus remains on conservation and providing access to the pristine water that makes the Ouachita National Forest famous among outdoor enthusiasts.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Royal, Arkansas, this park serves as a gateway to the vast beauty of the Ouachita Mountains. The surrounding landscape features dense forests and crystal-clear lake water, making it a prime destination for travelers who prioritize scenic beauty over urban convenience. While the location feels secluded, it is easily accessible from nearby regional hubs, allowing guests to balance the tranquility of the wilderness with the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable road trip.

Amenities & Park Features

The Brady Mountain site provides essential facilities tailored to the needs of modern campers. Guests have access to well-maintained RV sites, many of which offer stunning proximity to the shoreline. In addition to standard hookups, the park features a boat ramp, a dump station, and picnic areas equipped with grills. The presence of a nearby full-service marina enhances the convenience for visitors who bring their own watercraft to explore the massive, island-dotted lake.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for visitors is the water itself, which is widely considered some of the cleanest in the United States. Guests can spend their days engaged in world-class fishing, boating, and swimming. Beyond the water, the Ouachita National Forest provides extensive opportunities for hiking and mountain biking on rugged, scenic trails. For a change of pace, the historic bathhouses and unique geology of Hot Springs National Park are just a short drive away from the campground.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for RVers who value a peaceful, nature-first experience over resort-style amenities. It is an excellent fit for boaters, anglers, and hikers who want to wake up within steps of the lake. If you appreciate the simplicity of a Corps of Engineers park and prefer quiet evenings under the stars to structured entertainment, the Brady Mountain Recreation Area will likely become a favorite stop on your Arkansas itinerary.

Beautiful place to camp on the most refreshing lake ever- Lake Ouachita 💖💖 bathhouses are clean and you don’t feel too crowded next to others. Wonderful area with disc golf and lots of trails, sandy beaches and lots of trees to hammock.

We stayed on one of the houseboats and it was a great experience. Something we definitely want to do again. Lots of room and really comfortable. I was surprised. We have a spacious RV but this is so much better than our RV. And on the water! I'd trade in the RV and pontoon for one of these! So, yeah, we really enjoyed it! The hot tub was a treat as well. I didn't expect that. It was a long day walking around Hot Springs and a cold night followed, but the hot tub was perfect ending to relax and look at the stars.

Beautiful area! Lots of wildlife to be seen. Unfortunately sites 17-22 are all crammed together. Luckily we were the only campers on this spot until our last night. You have 2 different RV camping areas on either side of the tent area, so you can hear generators but it isn't super loud. This tent area would be fantastic for a large group or family get together. Showers were a bit sketch, but I was glad to see restrooms close. All in all, I had a beautiful time with my husband & dogs at Brady Mountain. The half hour drive to Ron Coleman mines is a great day trip to dig for quartz crystals and some site seeing if you take the back roads!!
