Pahokee Campground & Marina

Overview

Pahokee Campground & Marina offers a unique waterfront experience on the eastern shores of Lake Okeechobee. Managed by the City of Pahokee, this park serves as a primary hub for outdoor enthusiasts who want to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Florida's largest freshwater lake. It provides a paved and level environment for RVers looking for a reliable basecamp that blends maritime access with traditional camping comforts and friendly service in a peaceful, scenic setting.

Location & Surroundings

The campground is situated directly on the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail, providing immediate access to hiking and cycling paths atop the Herbert Hoover Dike. Located in Palm Beach County’s agricultural belt, the area is defined by vast sugarcane fields and a quiet lakeside lifestyle. The park's position offers sweeping views of the water, making it one of the few places in the region where you can watch the sun set directly over the lake horizon.

Amenities & Park Features

Visitors can expect functional facilities designed for modern rigs, including full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service at every site. Most sites feature stable concrete pads, which are essential for leveling larger motorhomes and fifth wheels. The park is well-equipped with several key features:

  • Deep-water boat ramp and marina for easy lake access.
  • Clean bathhouses and convenient on-site laundry rooms.
  • A large swimming pool located in the adjacent city park area.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Anglers will find paradise here, as Lake Okeechobee is world-renowned for its trophy largemouth bass fishing. Beyond the water, the trail system is perfect for wildlife viewing, photography, and birdwatching. For a change of pace, the Grassy Waters Preserve is a short drive away, offering a look at pristine Florida ecosystems. Local diners provide a taste of authentic regional cuisine, while nearby towns offer additional shopping for those enjoying a long-term winter stay.

Impressive for such a small, rural and economically depressed community. This facility on Florida's largest freshwater lake is very well designed, but the men's room could use some serious maintenance! Water toxicity warnings are posted due to algae bloom. Keep fighting, @CaptainsForCleanWater!

Special place for my husband and I. We love it. We drive 2 hours for a Special day a few time a year

The marina looks awesome although it was nearly empty. Camping right on the water was really nice. The bathroom was excellent. The pool area is awesome. The lake is unbelievably massive. You can't even see the other side. Unfortunately the water quality and lack of access to the shoreline, left me a bit disappointed with the lake itself.

Well, actually, my experience was getting there, because at least a few times a year, we take a bike ride from Wellington there and back, it's about 70 miles. It's a nice place to visit, although it's a little different and a bit rural, with a small town where there aren't many things. It has a slightly old-fashioned feel, but it's something different from where you'd go. There are restroom facilities when you get there and a little rest area.

Great place to relax, get off the road, stretch your legs and see the scenery. Birds and other wildlife may be present.
