Friends On The Open Road

We stayed 4 nights, checking in on Sunday afternoon and checking out Thursday morning. We arrived early, around 9:00am and were welcomed to park in the Marina area until our campsite opened. The people working the front gate were super friendly and being local to the area they were able to give us great recommendations. This campground has full hookups, water, electric and sewer. If you are tent camping they have extremely nice walk-in sites that are near a very nice bath house. The bathrooms/ showers were very well maintained and clean. They also have a laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers, clean and in working order. If you have small children there is a nice playground at the end of the cul de sac. The hiking trails at the visitors center were very well maintain by the local Kiwanis and the Army Corps of Engineers. This park is very well maintained, as is the boat launch and picnic facilites near the marina. This is a very family friendly and budget friendly location to camp. As it is the 1st week in September things are a little slower than in the summer. I wish I could give them 6 STARS. We have been traveling in our RV for the past 3 months, a different location every week, we've seen nice parks but this is one of the nicest!

Great campground. Check in was easy and the woman was so helpful. The two employees that do the trails and all maintenance at the parks were wonderful, saw them on the trail working and they were not playing around. They all made us feel at home. Thank you

A beautiful clean peaceful lake one of the best in Kentucky in my opinion ; the bathrooms are always clean they have play ground trails to walk on etc. !

Ample parking. Has boat rentals, but make sure to reserve early. Oh and yes the ice creams were good and cheap.

Very nice state park, with campgrounds, marinas, little store/restaurant. Campgrounds has showers, bathhouse, laundry and nice playground. In a beautiful siting

Beautiful campground and super friendly employees! Host family was great as well. The best bathrooms that were very clean and a laundry room. Playgrounds and restaurant by the docks. Highly recommend this campground.

One of the nicest state park campgrounds I've ever seen! Sites are level and have large chipped sites. Bath house is clean and well maintained. Nice playground for the kidos, and what seems to be a favorite swimming cove just at the bottom of the hill. Paintsville Lake is also very picturesque. This is what all our state park campgrounds should look like!

Stopped by the lake since I haven't been here in a few years. It's still just as beautiful as the last time I seen it. My husband and I were married here on July 3rd 2008 and we used to bring our kids here to play and swim daily as we lived just up the road. Today it was flooded as it had rained the past few days but I really enjoyed the scenery and ducks.
